A Thai tourist's visit to Paris took a terrifying turn when he was violently attacked and robbed, resulting in the loss of 10,000 baht in cash and all his belongings.

Krissana “Fai” Baowlor revealed the distressing details of his ordeal on social media, accompanied by photos of his injuries. The incident unfolded at approximately 10pm yesterday near the Westfield Forum des Halles shopping centre, a known tourist hub in the city.

The images show Krissana with visible scratches and bruises on his face and neck, alongside bleeding wounds to his mouth. His hands were injured in the struggle to fend off the attacker.

Krissana recounted that the attack took place before nightfall in a public park. He described the assailant as a person of colour who seemed to be under the influence of drugs and physically overpowering.

The confrontation escalated when the attacker pushed Krissana down a staircase and attempted to steal his chest bag. Despite his efforts to defend himself, Krissana was overpowered, with the assailant resorting to strangulation and kicking him repeatedly on the head, back, and legs.

Unable to pursue his attacker, Krissana was left with significant losses. Among the stolen items were 10,000 baht in cash, his mobile phone, essential documents, and personal effects, rendering him stranded and vulnerable in a foreign city.

In his online post, Krissana issued a stark warning to fellow travellers in Paris and other European destinations. He advised heightened vigilance, particularly against displaying designer clothing or valuables, even in busy public spaces where such incidents might seem less likely.

Krissana’s experience highlights ongoing concerns about safety in major tourist areas, reminding travellers of the need for caution. Paris, despite its allure as a global tourist attraction, is not immune to crime, and such incidents underscore the necessity for ongoing awareness and precaution.

Local authorities are thought to be investigating the incident, though details on any progress remain unclear. Tourists are urged to report any suspicious behaviour to local law enforcement and to seek immediate help if targeted.

For Krissana, the traumatic experience serves as a potent reminder of the risks associated with international travel. Despite taking precautions, he became a victim in a crowded area – a testament to the unpredictable nature of such crimes.

As Krissana recovers from his injuries, his story serves as a vital cautionary tale for tourists worldwide. It is a crisis that echoes broader concerns about safety in international travel, urging visitors to maintain a heightened sense of vigilance even amidst familiar routines.

Overall, this unnerving incident reflects the broader challenge of ensuring tourist safety in bustling metropolises. The reminder is clear: whether in Paris or elsewhere, exercising caution and staying alert remain paramount for all travellers.

Lucky this didn't happen in the UK.

He'd probably be doing a 3 stretch for the hate crime of revealing the details of his attacker on social media.

Thailand should really warn it's citizens of the dangers of travelling to Europe these days. It's easy for someone from a civilized first world country like Thailand to be naive of the dangers of a declining, socially fractured, diverse Europe.

Get well soon K.Fai. At least you have a nice country to return to.

Yawn

I think Paris is as bad as London now. Full of migrant criminals looking for an easy pay day. Crime through the roof, and rubbish strewn, graffiti covered streets. They bring what they are used to with them.

Often violent flare ups in the government housing projects in the suburbs, where immigrants and north African families tend to live. Even the Police don't go to some parts.

we visited London 2 yrs ago and I was shocked. Scary homeless people everywhere. I was looking at a bearded old homeless guy near St pauls cathedral and he said F off to me. Seeing so many of them sleeping in tents near leiscter square. I used to live there in my 20s. It was better back then.

Paris has been a dangerous 💩hole for years.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand really ought to be heightening the alert level for France and make it clear about the risks of robbery with violence, pickpocketing and other crimes against the person.  Ditto UK.

Europe has fallen.  Stay away.

Do you say Thailand is fallen after every violent crime in Thailand when some westerner is implicated?

Do I say Europe has fallen because of this single violent crime involving a foreigner, or even a small handful of violent crimes involving foreigners like in Thailand?

Use your brain for once!

I was speculating what could happen based on recent jail sentences for UK social media posters who alluded to the race of criminals, in that case illegal immigrants. I wasn't claiming it actually happened. 😃

The clue was in this part. "He'd probably...".

Europe may not have actually "fallen"  yet , but anybody with any sense can see that the tipping point has long been reached, it takes a special kind of blindness not to see that its only a matter of time , less than 50 years in my opinion

Thailand, as yet has no such problem , yet.    Due in no small part to their highly effective (by Thai Standards)  and  pro active immigration policy , which is much maligned by  some  expats  Although they would not be able to cope with an invasion of such magnitude as the UK has and continues to suffer

The problem is with the politicians who I firmly believe can see full well what's happening and choose to either do nothing or unbelievably support it no doubt mistakenly  believing it will stand them in good stead with our future masters. It will not, they have already identified themselves as traitors albeit to their own kind and will be the first to hang from a crane because of it
