I would guess that as the women got fatter and fatter the men's penis had to grow to reach the objective

Presumably if you have a culture or population which long-term values a big one both aesthetically & sexually, then big ones will tend to reproduce more and will increase proportionally over time across that particular population. This of course assumes that a tendency to bigger ones is heritable, that is that a big Dad will TEND to father a son with a big one (ie it's likely but not inevitable).

Is it possible that a big penis has larger balls, this more semen, or healthier semen? The bigger your load the more chance of inseminating the female? Maybe that's why there are so many people in Africa.

My research on reputable sites suggests size matters - hell yeah it does according to ladies reactions on those reputable sites.
