In Thailand I fully agree with you...

A lot of bad apples and rampant corruption with billions of baht in cash flowing in daily/weekly/monthly etc

But lets not forget the shirt-lifters of other certain religions that went unchallenged for years.

Or those that kill in the name of their religion.

Yes, unfortunately - there are many very dedicated people in all these religious followings but dragged down by many fxzxzing hypocritical idiots hiding behind their so-called beliefs.

Plus the billions spent on temples in this country is scandalous when there are thousands going hungry, living in poverty and lacking basic schooling - Buddha must turn in his grave from the nonsense and con trick being played out in his name.

I sometimes wonder if some of these so called monks turn to the temple to hide away from crimes they may have committed it’s a way of avoiding a prison sentence shave your head lather your appearance and mover to another part of Thailand !

I've long suspected that a great number of Thai men who become Buddhist monks do so for a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do with Buddhism, faith, religion. If a guy's down & out & hungry & homeless & penniless then going into the nearest temple solves all his problems. For others it's a respect/power kick. One day he's a bottom-feeding low-life scumbag, next day in his orange robe he's up there on a pedestal and has people grovelling at his feet. And for many others it's an opportunity to get their fingers into the tills.
