And most of my Thai relatives actually put the ketchup all over the pizza! 🤮

The same with my ex wife and now girlfriend. I wanted to scream.

The Pizza Company's pizzas tastes great, but some Westerners say that they are actually made for Thai tastes.

What makes it non-authentic?

I've been in Asia for so long that I've practically forgotten what an authentic Western pizza should actually be like.

There are excellent pizzerias in Thailand where the pizzas are very good, but certainly not in American fast food restaurants.

Thailand is a country that puts punitive import duties on cheese so expectations regarding pizzas should be kept low.

The Pizza Company screwed me twice with its "Thousand Island Sauce", yuck. Then another time in Betong I went for a pizza with a special "cheese" rim, guess what? The cheese (or fake cheese) was full of garlic, ugh.

Expats who've lived in TH for decades no longer know what a real pizza is like. They assess the quality of a pizza according to Pizza Company/Pizza Hut standards.

Pizza Co has 2for1 deals for like 500 baht delivered. In Callie You're looking at 1200 baht for one. Would you pay 1200 baht for a pizza here, I wouldn't. I do in Calif at least a few times on return trips.

You're lucky. We've had pizzas arrive that were dripping in thousand island salad dressing or some horrid yellow concoction instead of red pizza sauce.

Was that the chicken pineapple pizza? Quite like that one, the sauce is better than the tomato sauce, lol.

Nothing wrong with this, with 3 or 4 glasses of red.

Aroy.

You'd be surprised just how many like pineapple on their pizza. I do, although it's usually trying a slice from others who have ordered it. I prefer Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, anchovies and extra mozzarella.

Yeah, Thai people only. Mention pineapple and pizza in a same sentence to an Italian and he'll be likely to castrate you..

What AI says:

Quote

Pineapple on pizza, specifically Hawaiian pizza, was created in 1962 by Sam Panopoulos, a Greek immigrant to Canada, at his restaurant, Satellite, in Chatham, Ontario.

Like it or not but it has found it way globally.

Italian pizzerias must be hardcore traditional to not have it on the menu.

Yes, pineapple on Hawaiian pizza I have seen, don't like it. But here they put it on almost every pizza, and even if you tell them not to add it when you order, sometimes they just forget and put it by default. Just too sweet with the extra sugar in the tomato sauce too.

I tried a frozen pizza from Lotus once. Disgusting sweet, and it was a seafood pizza. Imagine eating shrimp with sugar on top... Not even my dog wanted to eat it.

Pizza snob?

Great pizza everywhere here go and look.

Maybe in BKK, not in the boonies.

I like their New York style pizza. It really isn't that bad though I won't say it's really a ''new york style'' pizza but it's much better than their regular crust.

Pizza made in TH for the Thai palate, who would have thought.  Had a few Thai versions, and tasty.  Not a fan of PC pan pizza, but there NY Style is one of the better versions and great value.   Especially when 2 for 1 promo is going and we get it, at least once a month on average.

Looks like real pizza to me ...

This.

Their New York style is actually quite good. Definitely better than their regular crust.

I've seen it ordered and eaten by everyone I know back in the US. Including Italians.  You don't think of it as traditional pizza and it's easy to like it, especially with Ham. Like I said, I still prefer anchovies, mushrooms and Italian thin sausage, but I'll sneak a slice if someone orders it. Kids love it.

I've been in Asia for so long that I've practically forgotten what an authentic Western pizza should actually be like.

My local Supermarket in North Carolina (for gods sake) makes a better $9.99 large 8 slice pizza than any I have ever had in SE Asia, except for Pizza Pala at Asoke Station and the cart in front of Babylon Hostel in Siem Reap.

Gallery Pizza in BKK is OK too. The pizza in Cambodia generally sucks a drippy horse you know what

Im not even talking Brooklyn or North Jersey or LI, give it up. Or Hartford CT. Like being in Italy

Trying to find a decent pizza is fun. Keep searching.

Leos and Hong Kong Garden, which is near the aquarium. are in Mueang Sisaket. There's also Cuckoo's Nest that has foreign food, but I don't remember if it has pizza. Is there another one near the aquarium?

My parents and brother are from Brooklyn. Had a couple there but mostly NYC and New Jersey. Three in San Antonio are really good, including the one from New Jersey transplanted.

One of the most disgusting tasting chains in Thailand- AVOID!

Amazingly enough Pizza Company Lao branches are far superior.

There's gotta be an Italian owned pizzeria in Thailand that makes authentic pizza?

Bangkok for sure ..

Loads.

Pizza Masillia is amazing. https://www.massiliabkk.com/

Bella Napoli is also superb: https://linktr.ee/bellanapolibkk

Lots of good authentic Italian wood fired pizza places. And if you want a decent takeaway then there's Pizza Mania wood fired delivery. https://www.pizzamania.com/
