Multiple entry Visa

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have a couple of questions.

1 I am an Australian

2 I am here on a 60 day Tourist Visa, 30 day extension required

3 I fly to Europe in September before the extended Visa expires

So far all good, now the questions.

I need to apply for a 6 month multiple entry visa to return from the UK to Thailand.

Can I apply for the Visa before I depart Thailand - I know my re-entry dates or do I need to apply for the Visa whilst I am overseas.

Trusting you understand my problem, any questions please reply

No.

Do you have resident status in UK.

Previously a METV was only applied for in passport country or country where you have permanent resident status.

That may have changed since introduction of e-Visa

When you return to Thailand how long do you plan to stay.

That has changed. I recently got an METV eVisa in Sweden when staying with friends and I'm neither Swedish nor do I have permanent residence there.

Excellent. So the OP can apply for the eVisa while in UK.

Only nationals of certain Countries now require residency status to apply for a visa.

No problem for an Australian national.

Yes - but the issue was METV "rules," specifically.  When first rolled-out, to submit paperwork for the METV - and continuing at least through the recent e-Visa rollout - one had to pack one's body in an aluminum-tube, and fly it half way across the world for submission in one's "country of residence."   There was, initially, a loophole in some Australian consulates, but those were then shut.

It is good news if this can now be done in nearby countries.  A report in this thread above lists a successful non-resident application in Sweden.  I haven't seen one yet for Laos, Cambodia, or other nearby countries, but hope to see those forthcoming.
