You can't renew your extension upon you return mid of September as it is out of date at that time already, why not doing it before you are leaving?

You won't have a problem entering but will have a problem renewing you marriage extension as it will have expired...maybe aply for a Non-O visa from the Thai embassy

while in the UK.

If your Thai marriage visa extension expires while they’re outside Thailand, I doubt you can re-enter on that expired visa, even if they have a return flight booked. Thai immigration law is strict on this.

I am guessing you can return, but as a tourist......and you will have to begin the whole process again????

My plan is to get the 60 day on arrival visa then re-apply for a new marriage extension.

I think you will need a new Non-O...and start from scratch.

Would seem to be poor planning.

In any event, yes you can return to Thailand with Visa exempt entry and obtain Non O at local immigration using form TM87.

Better option would be to obtain the "new" Non O in UK.

Enter Thailand with the Non O (90 day stamp)

In last 30 days with 400k having been in bank for 2 months you can apply for 12 month extension.

Obviously you do not have a reentry permit so as soon as you exit you are able to apply for the Non O

Enter Visa exempt (it's not a Visa) then apply for Non O as outlined above.

AFTER that apply for 12 month extension.

BTW you could have applied for 60 day extension to visit wife (if not previously obtain that extension and then purchased a reentry permit.

Effectively pushing back your renewal date. (Best option)

I'm on the retirement ext and I renew it every year a month before its expiry date, for example this year my ext expiry date was July 31, and I renewed it on July 2. So can't you do the same? Renew your annual ext based on marriage at the start of August, get a re-entry stamp, then mid August go back to UK, and return hassle free 4 weeks later with a valid visa and a re-entry permit. This would be a much better plan for you,

Thanks for the replies,  My main concern is getting back into Thailand with my return ticket,

Your plan is to enter Thailand Visa exempt.

The airline at departure may/will ask for onward flight out of Thailand within 60 days. You won't have that.

Immigration at Thai airport may question why previously on extensions from a Non O you are now entering Visa exempt.

That won't be an issue as necessary travel was needed.

Perhaps you are seeing why I suggested obtaining Non O e-Visa in UK.

Should be processed in few days

Just do it the first week of August, I did the same in May. Make and appointment and you will be in and out in two hours max with a yearly extension and a re entry permit, multiple if needed. Nothing to think about once that is done. Going or coming back.

Only issue would be the required return date to immigration for final stamp after under consideration period.

Also if his immigration office does home visits (marriage extension)

As mentioned above he could have pushed it back by 60 days with extension to visit wife.

Already August so time is an issue now

I was thinking that if i applied for an extension renewal  now the waiting for approval time would be a problem, I will go to Immigration and ask. Thanks again for all suggestions.

Ask them about 60 day extension to existing permission of stay.

Would buy time and you can apply for 12 month extension after return.

You would need single reentry permit 1000b + 60 day extension 1900b

Does your Immigration office date the 30 day under consideration stamp from the date you submit the application, or 30 days from when your current permission of stay expires end Aug).

If the latter case, then you could apply and obtain a re-entry permit to cover the 30 day period of under consideration.

That's common, so if it fits in with travel plans/dates you're home free.

Don't forget the reentry permit after you apply for the extension.

Single reentry. It's expiry will be same as your "return to immigration" date
