In the early hours of August 5th, a 27-year-old Indian national, Mr. Hemanth Kumer, found himself at the centre of a murky jewellery theft investigation in Pattaya. The owner of a jewellery shop, Mr. Kumer reported to the Pattaya City Police that his gold necklace, valued at approximately 150,000 THB, had been stolen.

According to Mr. Kumer, the incident unfolded on Soi Beach Road 13/2, where he was approached by two transgender individuals. Initially offering escort services, they became increasingly insistent, eventually enveloping him in a series of unwelcome advances. Despite Mr. Kumer's attempts to disengage, he soon realised his necklace—an accessory weighing about 40 grams—was no longer around his neck.

Mr. Kumer promptly reported the incident to Pol. Lt. Kriangkrai Kaewphiphop, a deputy investigator at the local police station. Officers were quick to respond, mobilising units to search for the suspects based on the victim's description. However, the duo had already vanished, leaving no immediate leads for law enforcement.

Superintendent Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo has deployed investigative teams to capture the suspects through a combination of CCTV analysis and witness interviews. Yet, while the investigation presses on, authorities approach the case with a degree of scepticism.

Pol. Lt. Kriangkrai mentioned that inconsistencies in Mr. Kumer’s account have raised questions. Should the claims be proven unfounded, Mr. Kumer may face charges for filing a false report. This situation underscores the complexity of balancing victim support with thorough investigative processes.

As the investigation continues, the police remain dedicated to discerning the truth and apprehending the perpetrators. The case brings to light the challenges faced by both tourists navigating local culture and authorities seeking justice amidst uncertain accounts.

Pattaya, known for its vibrant nightlife and eclectic mix of visitors, often sees such incidents that require careful and sensitive handling by local police. Situations like these emphasize the importance of vigilance and caution, particularly in bustling tourist hotspots.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about the incident or those who may recognise the suspects to come forward. Meanwhile, locals and tourists alike are reminded to remain aware of their personal belongings and surroundings.

For now, the investigation remains active as the Pattaya police work diligently to resolve this puzzling case, balancing the need for swift action with the reality of complex narratives.

He should know better than to go out with the necklace on show.

Gee, I've never heard a story like that before. This ties in well with the story of all the Indian tourists coming to Thailand. The ladyboys love it! Real suckers.

An idiot walking around with a 150k necklace, he deserves to lose it, Assisting Thai economy, no sympathy from me

If it happened the way he said/where he said, lots of cameras in that area.

I really hope we get a follow-up to this one!

Why don't you just copy and paste the headline - it seems to be an almost daily occurrence!

Seriously, do Indians have a club in India. Once a week before they go to Thailand and discuss, how do you rip of an insurance travel company".  Get the company name and that its f..cking stupid enough to do a payout. Then add in the policy that your covered for  a Thai shemale (ladyboy). Once in Thailand get a fake receipt for a gold necklace. "Bob's your uncle". Happy days LOL

Insurance companies must have a section just for India/gold necklace/ transgender

now.

Well, well, here we go again. This time it was Mr Hemanth Kumar who was strolling in the "early hours of yesterday morning" prior to the pristine sunrise over the Bay of Ladyboys.

He might have made an error when he reported the loss, was it 40 grammes or rather 40 kilogrammes?

What a load of we-all-know-what-this-is-all-about. If the story is true, then it serves him right. The BiB in Pattaya will do absolutely nothing as proven over and over and over again. Law enforcement to the finest degree 😉

ProTip: If you dont know why you shouldnt be flashing bling in Pattaya, you shouldnt be going to Pattaya,

A insurance scam for sure.Happy that India just get 25% extra tariffs today because they buying alot of oil from Russia.

15 years ago(?), it was Russians prior to the Indians and likely more before the Russians. The rouble crashed. The Chinese buses came, Covid19 appeared. The Chinese buses failed to arrive.

Pattaya Central is now a sad face of those 15+ years ago.

East Pattaya is most excellent.🙃😘
