A Swedish man wanted by INTERPOL for his involvement in a major drug trafficking network has been arrested in Chonburi, where he had been living in hiding in an upmarket villa.

The 37-year-old suspect, known by the alias “Toby,” was apprehended by officers from Immigration Division 3 following an extensive undercover operation. Police confirmed he was the subject of a Red Notice issued by INTERPOL at the request of Swedish authorities, who seek his extradition on serious drug-related charges.

According to Pol. Maj. Gen. Chairit Anurak, Commander of Immigration Division 3, the operation was part of an intensified crackdown on transnational criminals living illegally in Thailand. The arrest took place on 4 August at around 16:30, following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering. Officers from the Eastern Investigation Unit, led by Pol. Col. Jirapong Rujiradamrongchai and Pol. Lt. Col. Ithithorn Prasertsak, had traced the fugitive to an exclusive residential estate in Bang Lamung.

Toby is accused of serving as a global moderator for a darknet drug marketplace called “Archetyp”, a platform facilitating the illegal sale of narcotics through encrypted private chat rooms. The platform primarily catered to clients in Scandinavia but extended its reach across Europe. Swedish authorities have labelled him a major figure in a sophisticated international trafficking network.

“This individual poses a significant threat to public safety and is considered a high-value target by European law enforcement,” said Pol. Maj. Gen. Chairit. “His online activities played a central role in coordinating drug sales across borders.”

The arrest comes under the direction of Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau and was part of a broader government-mandated initiative to root out foreign fugitives and safeguard national security. The Commissioner stressed that such operations are essential not only for domestic safety but also to protect Thailand’s international reputation as a country that upholds the rule of law.

Toby is now being held in custody while extradition proceedings are initiated in cooperation with Swedish authorities.

Looks like Silk Road Place.

Looks like the crazy Swedes are up to more and more no good. Quite a lot of reporting the last month. Maybe they are aiming for a top ranking on the list. But good! One criminal will be taken care of.

How does someone come up with the idea to sell drugs in Thailand? Have any of these people thought it through? I guess they figure, "I'm so smart I can't be caught."

Good for the cops, but it took 6 of them, as per the picture, maybe a bit of overkill?  But there again when the cops in the UK arrest someone for a face book post they do the same!

Did you even bother reading the post?  If you did then you clearly missed the bit where it said he was working as a chatroom moderator - he was not selling drugs himself, and the platform is not selling drugs either.

The platform is a way for individuals to advertise stuff for sale and for other members to buy what is being offered.  Basically no different to Facebook Marketplace or the Buy & Sell Marketplace on this site.

Nothing to do with Thailand, other than he was living here.

Do you mean this part?

"a platform facilitating the illegal sale of narcotics through encrypted private chat rooms"

Or this part?

"A Swedish man wanted by INTERPOL for his involvement in a major drug trafficking network"

Or this part?

"Swedish authorities have labelled him a major figure in a sophisticated international trafficking network."

Maybe he had no knowledge of illegal drug deals. Maybe the thought never crossed his mind but he decided to go "into hiding" anyway. May his trial be fair and impartial.

I’ll take it that you misread the article

Wow those Interpol red notices seem to be working well I wonder why Tyler has issued a red notice for the Red Bull kid who killed the cop oh I forgot they really don’t want him back here until after the statue of limitation will expire TIT

Has he (Boss) ever been spotted out and about anywhere in the last few years? I remember there was a photo in London quite a while back.

Please! Not this!

For the love of what you hold dear to you, please don't encourage any more of this vacuous babble.

I like this bit just confirms why we live here,

Thailand’s international reputation as a country that upholds the rule of law.

Many don't get caught     you just don't hear about them unless you  are involved

But if caught, your life is over. If it's not absolute financial desperation, why bet your life on a crap shoot? When I was young, I was offered a very well-paid job as a white-powder bike courier in San Francisco. I mean, I was broke, but never considered it for a minute. I don't regret it.

Think he was the moderator for a dark web drug market place apparently

Pity if that scumb*g will be jailed back home, instead of here.

Overly comfortable western prison, wouldn't really serve any punishment.

I'm impressed that this 'major drug trafficker' isn't even in handcuffs....   He's just hanging out with his hands in his pockets.  LOL

He perhaps thought the rest were so dumb! But they just don't like the competition in these reserved occupations.
