I am going for the second injection next week, but my eyesight is deteriorating. I see double vision all the time, and can not see clear lines; every straight line becomes a question mark, so am I going blind?

What you describe may be the effects of your AMD. Which the injections are intended to halt the progression of, but it does take time and you  have not yet completed the loading dose.

As previously explained the injections will halt the progression in about 90% of patients i.e. it will stop getting worse. A smaller percentage (about one third) will see improvement compared to baseline.

Again, I urge you to discuss this with your doctor. Contact the doctor NOW to report the further deckine in vision, the Dr might decide to have you come in sooner and/or change drugs.

effects are not immediate.

Loading dose is 3 injections a month apart.

Did you discuss your worsening vision with the doctor?

I just had my second injection, and it is not getting better. Will the third injection help, or is it just a waste of time and money?

As I have explained several times,  the initial loading dose is 3 injections about a month apart and effects are often not seen until this has been completed.

Also as explained several times, the injections will usually (about 90% of patients) prevent further deterioration but will only sometimes (about 30% of patients) result in improvement.

Unless you think further loss of vision (to the point of blindness)  isn't worth preventing then yes you should definitely continue and it is not a waste of time and money.

But you need to understand what has been explained repeatedly about expected outcome of treatment.

You also need to talk to your doctor.

just had my 1st avastin injection at sriphat.  (10k).

much more painful than expected, doctor said 'some eyes more sensitive than others so remind me to to step up numbing before next shot.' -you bet!

seems unusual as most report just a mild discomfort. ,

Next morning, eye very sore and watery and felt like a fly in the eye, but after taking ibuprofen+paracetamol it improved a lot.

considering changing hospital for next 2 loading shots after that bad experience

(also have glaucoma so azarga drops prerscribed at sriphat for that (900bht))

Interested to know if others have similar painful experience with intravitreal injections of avastin at sriphat -and conments on costs

I'm going again in a week, but the injections are making it worse now. I have double vision, which I never had before I think I am wasting my time and money.

Yes, my wife is a nurse herself, and she is not rejecting my treatment, but it does not feel free in OZ. I had 3 so far, going for the 4th one in a few days. I never had double vision, but now I have, so what is the good of all this? Making doctors rich? I am a pensioner, but still have to pay. I can hardly read what I am typing

Again, you need to have this discussion with your doctor.

Had my 3rd injection 4 weeks ago at Sriphat.  Not painful, just some irritation for 24 hours.

Cost 9600 baht with an excellent retina doctor.

Vision Improvement in weak eye is  much improved.

The Doctor said that treatment had been successful, and no need for further treatment at the moment.

I will monitor the vision over the next 3 months.  If it detiorates, i will go back for further treatment.

Not sure if I need further injections, or if the eye is now stable for the future.

Maybe @Sheryl could advise if continued treatment is always necessary, or is it deemed on a case by case basis?

Continued monitoring/follow up   by opthalmologist is needed. Whether/when further injections are needed, will depend on what is seen on exam.

Most people need injections every 2-3 months to keep the condition stabilized but it does vary.

Many thanks for your quick and helpful reply.

I will monitor it and go for a check up in 3 months time.
