TM30 needed for new passport?

Featured Replies

I’m about to renew my passport- will I need to do a new TM30 when I get my new passport?

Thanks in advance

You are asking about transfer of stamps to new passport after you renew it?

Which immigration office.

What is status in Thailand. Meaning on Non O extensions etc or...?

Generally a TM30 would not be required.

Edit: seems from other posts you live in CM and are living ongoing in Thailand.

CM can be fussy re TM30.

If easy to obtain then suggest you do that.

My recent experience at Jomtien.

New tm30 not needed to transfer stamps to new passport.

New tm30 needed to do first  90 day address report with new passport

Nor should it be.

Immigration can see where previous stamps were issued.

That's all that is required no TM30.

General info for others.. The transfer needs to be done at immigration office where stamps were issued.

Also letter from embassy no longer required.

When I transferred stamps to new passport no new TM30 required.

Transferring stamps to a new passport doesn't change your registered address.

Thank you for all the useful information

Sorry for not being clearer with my original question

When I do a TM30 via the TM30 website I print off the notification and keep it with my passport.

The notification contains my current passport number.

My question should have been do I need to do a new TM30 when I receive my new passport so that the notification that I keep with my passport has my new passport number on it.

I believe @DrJack54 has addressed by saying that CM immigration (my local immigration office) can be funny about the TM30 and that it is better to do a new one

I recently had a new passport, and on return to Thailand, went and did a new TM30 . Was it really needed? not sure.  I did it so there would be no problems when it came time to do the next visa extension.   One less thing to go wrong.

In Pattaya, told me my TM30 was not valid as I had a new passport. Had to renew.

Bureaucrazy at it's best as TM30 as such does not show passport nr.

Will have fun next month when my new passport comes.

The TM-30 will have you old passport on it unless it is updated.  I went to my apartment office  as soon as  got the visa stamps transfered and had them complete an updated TM-30.  I did not want a TM-30 on file with an old passport number.  You can wait until you have immigration business but I prefer not to wait.

Yes it is the old handwritten TM-30 receipt.  I used to have that in my old passport as well.  For about the last year in CNX they want the form I pasted for all Immigration business (90 day, Re-entry permits,, extension and even transfer of visa stamps).  I don't know what the requirements are in other provinces.
