Not to mention on three occasions when the computers were down and people with full trollys had to go home empty handed because only cash was being accepted.

In reverse is a method used to cause supermarket managers to change their tiny-minds about refusing cash.

Here's how you do it.

Contact all your mates, and fix a time on a busy day to assemble in the car park.

Then with pockets full of cash ONLY, convoy into the outlet, and fill your baskets with what you normally buy.

Assemble at the checkout together and wait for the surly clerk to say we only accept digital payment.

Smile, and call for the Manager.

Politely explain to the manager that you and your mates ONLY have cash, and refuse to  ever use digital payments because of the terrible consequences. (Information about which is readily available to the curious.)

The Manager casts an eye upon a convoy of cash ONLY customers who they are about to lose forever.

The Manager instructs the clerk to accept their cash.

Never failed yet.

Get ready to try it, and retain peace of mind in these Final Exciting Days.

Prepare or Perish.

I've got a better idea, and here's how you do it:

Get a life.

Exactly......I dread being behind someone in the 7-11 line who pays with their phone.....So many times they have some kind of problem with the transaction....

If using contactless it's instant, much quicker than QR, with Truemoneywallet I log in etc prior to reaching the tills

Many of the 7-11 are franchises (almost half of), so maybe that could be an issue.

No they don't accept. Yes only true wallet. That I know. As I said it's amazing only payment is Cash or true money

Three different Canadian credit cards, a new 7-Eleven on every block. The machines kept buzzing, the clerks kept staring, and I kept swiping. You’d call it a lucky streak especially with a 3% cashback on all purchases.

It was tried in Detroit — Hollywood turned it into a success.
Meanwhile, Thailand has no 1000 Baht bill breakers, so staff keep double-counting piles of cash, adding 45 seconds to every queue.
Such machines will never be introduced here — cashless is the preferred future.
Two lanes might help. But with the tiniest feet possible and no smaller notes, OCP still wins.

I got TrueMoney installed and running maybe 6 months ago after seeing it discussed on here.  I've never had a work permit in Thailand.

BS, no work permit required, try again

Your information is just plain wrong. A work permit isn't required to use TrueMoney.

There are two tiers of ID verification. You only need a passport for the 1st one. You need an additional Thai document for the 2nd one. A work permit is just one of several options. I used my Thai driving license instead.

Feel free to check your 'facts' and come back and post the outcome.

Why not put 10b on the counter and walk out?

Time waster for dummies who can't carry a few baht around.

That's how you use QR code?

Had a few Chang before going in?  🍺😜

I am not worried.

I am just concerned that you have been given wrong information and you are repeating it as the truth - which it isn't.

It would be great if you could check it out to your satisfaction then come back on here, hold your hands up and say "oops, I was misinformed - sorry - you don't need a WP".

That would be a manly thing to do, don't you think?

I think they added PromptPay in a minimal number (~ 3%) of their shops last September.

https://aseannow.com/topic/1339222-7-eleven-introduces-convenient-promptpay-qr-code-payments-nationwide/

I think most Thais simply use TrueMoney Wallet? Probably not worth it to add PromptPay for an additional 1% of customers, who can pay in cash.

It is still incredible that the biggest chain of convenience stores in the country still doesn't except QR bank scan to purchase .Just a handful of shops across the country or in Bangkok accept. When you think little food stalls in the street accept bank scan but the massive CP owned corporation convenience store chain doesn't .

No problems here in Cambodia, the 7-11 stores have been boycotted (along with PTT petrol Stations and Amazon Coffee shops!)

Oh give it a rest. Jeez

So if you have the True Money app, you just load some money on it after downloading the app? I did see it use in some hairdressers etc as well.

Be careful who you call a dummy if you're making incorrect statements. With my True wallet, I can pay faster than you can get cash out to pay and wait for change, because it's an instant scan from their scanner. Of course, being a dummy who uses TrueMoney to pay, I have my wallet out and ready to pay by the time the cashier has checked and packed the items. It's faster than a cash transaction.

They don't accept QR payments at 7-Eleven, but even at stores that do, such as Big-C, Lotus's and other grocery stores, you don't enter the amount because that is already included in the QR code. You scan, confirm, and that's it... the receipt is automatically dispensed from the store's payment processor. I also have it ready to pay before the cashier has packed my items. Would you believe most phones have instant login to payment apps using Face ID?

This dummy also carries some cash, but I only use it at places I cannot scan, or prefer not to scan, such as filling up my motorcycle at the gas station. If I'm refuelling a car, I will scan to pay.

I know you may not fully understand the exact processes with cashless payment methods, but people who use them are not necessarily dummies. There's no need to live in the dark ages. All I need to do is go out with my phone, and everything is easy. I can even withdraw cash from the ATM with it.

This is absurd. Do you think the manager of a large grocery store/supermarket would give a sh*t about losing some idiots who refuse to use any cashless payment methods? The joke would be on you as you're the one who wasted time collecting a shopping cart full of items. The manager is on a salary. He'd probably be happy to lose you. I know I would be if I was the manager.

You can link an account to TrueMoney Wallet, or you can top-up your TrueMoney Wallet via a transfer from your Thai bank's mobile app.

You can also pay for 7/11 deliveries with the TrueMoney Wallet app, just click "Pay" driver scans, done.
