Sadly it's not an EV 😞

image.jpeg.19d4b21716b9a9fd57f961e85f262813.jpeg

It's an Autoped, one of the very first mass-produced motorized scooters.

Introduced in 1915 (in the United States, later also manufactured in Germany by Krupp around 1919).

It had a small gasoline engine (sometimes 155cc) mounted above the front wheel, with the frame doubling as the fuel tank.

Riders controlled speed and braking by pushing or pulling the handlebar column forward or backward.

It was marketed as a convenient, modern way for city dwellers (including women, messengers, and even postal workers) to get around without needing a car.

The woman in the photo is suffragette Lady Florence Norman who famously rode one to work in London.

It's very like the French bikes you (used to?) see, especially in the countryside.......a small, probably two stroke to drive one of the wheels..

Often call a "Solex" after one of the manufacturers, not to be confused with the lock manufacturer.

You should have been there. It took absolute ages for them to get their kit off. If I hadn't already popped my wad in excited anticipation, I would usually be fast asleep by the time they were disrobed.

Of course, you're absolutely right. Since this lady only exists probably as default in AI's imagination, only AI is capable of generating her face. The e-Solex is designed by Italian firm Pininfarina: e-solexvlosolexlectrique.png.42b8eb55a7fac88768ba2074778ef622.png

Allow me to put her to a real riding test, on-topic (pun intended): here she's again on the the e-Bull. Victorian vibes, EV rides. 🎩⚡🐂
