Arriving from UK on a 0NE-WAY Ticket at Suvarnabhumi in 2025?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to book soon, TG is a rip off now, same return ticket last year (£789) now a grand!!!

I can get China Southern Airlines for £300 - return to UK on GF or others for around £400

My question is are there any issues with arriving on a 0NE-WAY Ticket at Suvarnabhumi recently?

A bit of info, been doing this snowBird trip for many years i stay 5 months, then returned to the UK for 7 months. Arrive on "O" marriage visa.

NEVER been asked for my ticket when arriving at BKK airport...

My main concern is boarding on a 1-way from the UK?!

Thanks for any info, much appreciated!

If you have an "O" marriage visa for Thailand, the Thai government doesn't require that you have a return ticket to enter Thailand.  But, and it's a big butta.jpg.f301fe7c8a4dcd73b7929c828e0ecc18.jpg, the  airline staffer at the check-in counter may not be aware of this and demand you show proof of an outward flight.  It's best to check  with the airline several days in advance to be sure there won't be a problem.  Call the airline and speak with a customer service rep.  If the rep is aware you don't need a visa, he'll tell you to have the check-in clerk call him if you have a problem.  You can also ask him to send you an email confirming no need for a visa or to place a note in your reservation in the airline's booking system.  If the rep isn't aware no return ticket is needed, he has time to check with the Thai embassy or an informed source in the airline before your departure.

In the past, it also worked to have bought the cheapest onward flight to Singapore or another destination, but I don't know if that will, uh, fly with check-in clerks these days.

was about to email customer service at China Southern Airlines and ask, however the below thread caught my attention, saving you reading it ...basiclly....OP emailed to ask: "internal combustion engine in checked hold  baggage would be OK." got a YES from both UK airport /airline ....image.jpeg.33c0ab50b405c2b380121a97fd7b91b3.jpeg BUT...on checkin they said... NO!!!

This is my worry...come on guys anyone recently fly over from LHR to BKK on a 1-WAY?

OP you have a visa.

The airline at departure will not require an onward flight.

Nor will immigration at arrival in Thailand.

For peace of mind have WiFi access and if any nonsense from airline. Step away from counter and book a "rent a ticket" (won't be necessary)

How do you obtain 5 months?

90 day stamp from the Non O + 60 day extension to visit wife?

Here is link for onward flight.

https://onwardticket.com/

Just buy a cheap ticket for 4 weeks later from BKK to Malaysia on Air Asia.

They are only around 2000 baht

Airline does not required onward flight.

They often ask for one for those flying without a visa..

Seems the OP obtains a Non O

Do you have a non o or not right now?

That being said 4 years ago I booked 1 way Cathay Pacific on my "marriage visa". As i was to check in and drop off my suitcase the biatch started berating me about 1 way ticket demanding I buy a return ticket. I said fine, deny my flight and expect a chargeback. Then she's off to see a supervisor and without any word she lets me in. Suddenly on the last leg from Hong Kong they offer me a complimentary business class upgrade from premium economy.

I had no premium card or points to warrant such an upgrade. I would say it was pretty smart move on their part as since then I always fly business to Thailand....with EVA Air

this is an interesting point...it must of been around 20 yrs ago, AND Thailand at that time clapped down on folks with 1 way tickets,(happen to 2 friends they were made to purchase return tickets!) anyways... i had a 1  way around this time and the checkin clerk would NOT let me on...however after showing my STAMPED Thai Non-immigrant visa in passport, they let me on!

edit to add: re "For peace of mind have WiFi access and if any nonsense from airline. Step away from counter and book a "rent a ticket" (won't be necessary) "

i only have internet access at home...hopefully the bolded part will be right!

Just posting this for others.

Those flying with a visa, or reentry permit don't just hand your pp to airline staff (check in) or immigration (on arrival) .....

Point out the visa or reentry permit.

Yeah when i came back in  2019 they made a fuss about my 1 way ticket.. showed em my coupla days old  non B and they were all apples.

I always arrive back to Thailand on the return leg of the ticket (i.e. do not have a return flight to the UK or an Onward Ticket) and never been questioned by the Check-In Staff.

Last return was May 2025 on a Non-Imm O "Retirement" + Multi Re-entry permit.

I've only been asked once, it was by Air India staff at Mumbai and I was on the return half of my ticket.

They were checking all passengers in the check-in queue (who were 99.99% Indian nationals of course) and evidently had a simple instruction "return tickets only".

I asked for a supervisor (recovered my passport before the young lady went off with it), never saw her again and checked-in with no problem.

Heathrow, with a visa, you should have no issues whatever, if you get hassle, ask for a supervisor.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

UPDATE:

NO issues!

I will say when i showed the check-in woman my Non-Imm O Thai visa, she was thorough imputing the details in the computer...

However, the BIG shock came when i arrive in swampy, the IO after attempting to input the details of visa, said you have not completed the:  Thailand Digital Arrival Card ...sent me down stairs to do it!

ffs, i didn't know anything about this (as i do not spend a lot of time on this forum), also Thai embassy or airline did NOT inform me about doing this (TDAC) prior to departure ...boy was i pissed off, only good thing was ...that NOT that many tourists queuing in immigration so I could get back quickly!

To be fair, it has hardly been kept a secret.

...and then check that you have been stamped in until your last extension expiry date.

Only once in 20 years have I been wrongly stamped in, and I noticed that before leaving the Immigration area.....learned that from this forum.
