It doesn't take a genius what is attracting these sorts of men to Thailand. Over the past few years we've seen masses of them arrive in Thailand.

With no passport he wont get far, if an interpol alert has been put into action, even if he makes it back to the UK, he will probably be extradited back to Thailand, the world is a much smaller place than it used to be

I can't see how leaving the country illegally will help him, no exit stamp from Thailand and so no entry stamp for the country of refuge which means he can't fly back home, the immigration of his refuge country would send him back to Thailand. Even if he made it back to the UK the Thai judiciary via the Thai embassy in London will make sure this ends in tears.

Where is he now ?

Do you know or not really ,and please if you don't know just say so rather than be like a Thai person who really doesn't know but won't say so !!!

Yeah, they can put him on the list and he will be extradited just after 'Boss'.

Why on earth did they give this scumbag bail when he is charged with such a serious offence.  Sorry forgot where I was stupid question

let’s hope Karma catches up with him

There was a 30 year thailand overstayer recently. Id bet on a criminal with nothing to lose over the southeast asian authorities

So he admitted causing the crash? I thought he had said it was the woman's fault.

If he has indeed done a runner, and it is to Cambodia, I doubt they would send him back due to current strained relationship with Thailand, but he will be there illegally, and without a passport.

If he hasn't, and the Police have his passport, he is in a whole lot of doodah. i doubt paying THB 30,000 to the family will help his case much.

Causing the death of aThai mother of two children in the way he did,  and the local understandable outcry is likely to ensure some time served, but I doubt he will get the maximum.

Last holiday to Thailand for him though.

UK reports suggest he is the same man convicted in Sheffield in 2022 for dealing heroin and crack cocaine, when he received a suspended custodial sentence.

What a scumbag,  convicted for drug trafficking  back home with the suspended sentence.

Stupid enough to be jailed here instead of home country, for fresh crime.

If you get your passport confiscated, they report it to the person's embassy immediately. No chance of him getting a new passport or even a temporary in another country.

Really?

Read the case of British pervert Richard Burrows.

He fled the UK on a passport issued under a false name and had it renewed 3 times, thus escaping justice for 27 years.

Would still be here now if he hadn’t run out of money and returned to the UK.

He was tracked down by AI technology to Phuket living as Peter Smith and a pillar of the local community.

No idea what a "Northerner" is , obviously from the North of England?

Is that a "lower" class area of England?

They don't have any junkie dealers in the south of England.🤣

This lot been coming to Thailand for a generation. I remember Pattaya well in early 00s.

Sukhumvit not many 20 somethings. Let them stay in Pattaya with all the other riffraff

Cambodia is not the only that borders Thailand.

Ain´t you the smart one?! Did you figure that out all by yourself?

Temporary or replacement passport can be applied for in the country he has fled to. Don't know why they released him on bail.

For a replacement of a Canadian passport, the embassy would require you to report it to police as lost or stolen and bring back a police report (had to do that for a stolen passport once).  I would expect most countries around Thailand would be able to and also do checking the  immigration status of who is reporting the lost passport as part of filling out a report - but that is just a logical guess.

Or even longer.

Sure, I will go with that. As long as it takes. The guy is a waste of space.

Nice to know that low life will be facing real punishment here, not in nothe overly comfortable jail at home.

really > no passport where is he going ?

If his identity is false as questioned in the article, he would have another passport, but he will be caught eventually if he has fled and be worse off

You don´t think you have more accidents leading to death from the major part of the population? After that, this was about a foreigner causing an accident leading to death. You are probably one of those that live with that foreigners drive better, and now felt the need to bash to population of the country you live in.

The thing is not that Thais are bad drivers in general. The thing is that there are too many bad apples, at the same time as laws are not enforced, which in return leads to that people are floating the rules. Something that create unnecessary dangerous situations.

This was about a foreigner INTENTIONALLY being recklessly negligent... that is a crime.  There is actually one charge higher that would likely be applicable that is 3 to 13 years, this charge is likely the one that is zero to 10 years.  His actions lead to the death of another...

He may have a another passport in another name already as reported his true name is under question

10 years would be a "norm" throughout the western world.

The family should sue him in the UK courts, get cash from him forever. Maybe he has a house.

It would be a Vehicular Manslaughter charge in any Western nation (or equivalent).   Maybe 3-years, or more likely probation with home confinement and no jail time.

The courts will be lenient because he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I doubt that he has the money, family connections, or brains to do a runner, he'll probably have to do his time in the LoS.

With luck, he'll have plenty of time in Thai prison to finish both sleeves with tats!  So what if he gets HIV from prison needles?

Maybe he changed it after finishing confinement, but then if he is the person people on social media are saying - his fingerprints used on entry here would match his criminal record in UK and the charge he is facing - has an equivalent law in UK so he would be able to be extradited.

What kind of reply is this? Did you bother to read what I quoted? I know what´s it all about. Try and understand why the quote is there and what you quote before you post.

How the hell do you get a sentence like that for dealing??????

Conservative Govt in the UK, for all their rhetoric on being tough on crime, did their utmost to keep the prison population from spiraling ever upwards.

Did I read correctly that this guy got a suspended sentence for dealing heroin? It sounds like he is overly deserving of having the book thrown at him, and spending a significant stretch in a prison where he will be treated very warmly by the locals.

Yes so he would have to avoid UK and have money he will be found if he has fled

This is an action that actually rises to a higher charge since it was intentionally reckless - not just reckless.  In Canada (Ontario) the charge COULD result in a maximum sentence of LIFE.... though if it was a first offence it would likely not result in that...but I highly doubt it would be a mere 3 years ... as Canadian courts tend to treat it very seriously (and Canada is notoriously soft on in comparison to other countries when it comes to sentencing).  The charge the offender is charged with here though has a sentence of zero to 10 years and up to 20,000 baht fine I believe.

It’s the UK.

Soft as sh*t

Hey Wheelie Boy, please get a copy of the book:  The Damaged Done.  Also, I hope you enjoy getting it raw....

Thai prisons are not joke.  I do not care how tough you are....you will find God inside the BKK Hilton.

I have no sympathy for you.

Sad for the family of that lady.

Wrong.  An Interpol arrest warrant will be issued and he will be arrested.

Remember the Brit who killed the American and ran home like a coward?  He was brought back from the UK and is now in prison for 20+ years.

Since this punk tried to blame the woman, I am convinced he is a Coward and if try to run, like all Cowards, he will be caught.
