Thais are supposedly peaceful people, but why not on the roads?

Thais, by and large, are widely known for their hospitality, warm smile, friendly nature and sabai-sabai ways.

So why does that not translate to how they behave on the roads?

I've seen better driving in Kinshasa.

Not saying for all of course but hospitality can be there because of a profit gained or perceived. Smiles can of course hide any emotions, including anger, jealousy, dislike or like. How people behave on the roads reflects how they are in other facets of life. Aggression instead of kindness. Control in lieu of respect

Agree.

They should be limited to push rods and rickshaws.

This is the country where the last horn honking and road rage in the world, yes, most Thai drivers are not the most accommodating and courteous drivers on the road, but I'll take it anytime.

Do you think they express their real faces and nature on the road? Is it due to the help of a vehicle that give them power?

No. He is implying, quite rightly, that they can't be trusted driving one properly.

Kinshasa?

The hub of honking, hooting, looting?

I rather be in Thailand

Speed in a 2 ton vehicle gives some power. The ability to cut others off, not being courteous and allowing the right of way, thinking the vehicle has the right of way in parking lots and at pedestrian crossings, while knowing full well the laws will rarely be enforced in traffic, allows them to be themselves.

Great women though. So submissive.

Compared to where I come from and how drivers are behaving, that is why.

So it means inside they are not that peaceful or courtous ? And caring for others like farangs claims?

The care for children here pales by comparison to the west. They do take care of the elders, allowing them to live with them if they're incapable, but it might be from a sense of obligation and not desire, so there's no way to tell individually. The way women here are perceived also shows a lack of real caring.

They are smiling behind the wheel you just can't see their faces...

Interesting I keep hearing Asians has better values for others than the selfish westerners. They say that Asia is collective vs the West being individual.

Its a bit a shock what you said. I’ve heard the opposite about Thais. Mostly from tourists and expats on Youtube

Where are you hearing this? Living here, after hearing for years living in my country, about how things are here, you see the truth after a few years of interacting.

Road rage isn't a Thai issue. It affects them but no more then other nations. Give them proper driving education and you'll see Thainess on the roads.
