Sunglasses

Why does nobody wear them here? I wore mine today and it seemed to make people nervous, especially Thai's.

Motorcyclists & bicycle riders yes....

People knocking around not much...

I have to say I hardly ever wear my trusted Rudy sunglasses anymore...I used to wear regularly when out & about...

Never gave it much notice...

Me neither until recently. I think it makes it harder for Thai's to eyeball and stare through a dark lens. There is no way to know if I'm responding or just not noticing. That's my strange theory anyway...

I like wearing my "Recon Sunglasses", Gives me a chance to do some "EYE CANDY!" LOL

Thais aren't big on glasses, not many wear them which may account for some of the bad driving.

I wear sunglasses for cycling and golf

I see Thai’s wearing them also.

Hardest part is deciding which pair to wear.

Gucci, Vuitton, Salt or Versace.  My cheap pair is Maui Jim.

All original, no knockoffs for this dude.

Yes, I’ve lost many over the years or smashed  accidentally.

Yes, I keep going back to the originals.

 Because I can.

Obviously never watched a Thai TV show, hi-so presenters wear them all the time, I never understood why though.

Personally, mine are built in to my specs.😃

OP - don't panic. Thais are just envious because you possess a nose that provides sufficient support to wear a pair of sunglasses. :coffee1:

Good point. It's like wearing a pair of new tennis shoes instead of beat up flip flops so maybe looks out of place in my area.

It may have something to do with my low rent area in Pattaya where locals are kind of scratching by. Some guy with nice sunglasses walking around looks a little stand-offish like he wants to be special.

I wear my Ray Bans religiously outdoors. To me most of the other brands are a bit showy. Gucci ,,,,,55555

Some valid points.

I wear what I like.  I prefer quality.  They always last longer.

I could care less about what people think.  Not the reason why I wear what I wear.  I wear because I LIKE WHAT I’M WEARING..

The majority of guys in Thailand give up over here trying to look smart or they never had it in the first place.

No pride in their appearance.  Ratty clothes.  Bloodshot eyes.  Unshaven.  Miserable outlook.  Walking around with bed head.  Try a little mouse and a COMB.

OMG !  At the same time I just described the typical Trump hating leftist.

They think baht can get them anything.  Good luck with that.

I noticed that. I sometimes get weird looks wearing long pants. I even caught some guys staring at my shoes (an envy type of stare). They were nice sneakers and not cheap flop flops or sandals.

When just wearing a decent pair of pants looks unusual it may be time to trade up.

Only in your mind bro...

With 40 % film or more in the car , no need for sunglasses.

Wearing no sunglasses outside in the brutal sun , may be

the cause for eye degradation , but thinking it is from old age.

I am never outdoors without them, my blue eyes absorb too much light, Asians being dark eyed are not so sensitive to the sunshine.

I still wear long pants occasionally.  Night time, November through February.

While warmer it is a nice change of pace from Chino style shorts.

I refuse to wear camouflage cargo shorts or cargo shorts in general.

I can hear the pearls being clutched and cracked by 80% of the forum over that statement.

Try a little 'mouse' and a COMB. 🐀

Don't you mean mousse?😉 but then again that's how a Jock would pronounce it.

Great! Keep loosing and smashing your originals more often, Gucci, Vuitton, Salt, Versace and the like needs customers like you.

A G string I think

Should have them on all the time in the tropics. I wouldn’t go out without them. Couldn’t give a monkeys about looking cool or whatever, just want to see without squinting and to protect my eyes. Can’t say I’ve ever had negative vibes from wearing them. A high number of Thais seem to have bad eyes, esp bikers. It’s unfathomable to me to ride in the day without glasses (and visor). OTOH, Thais that wear them for that ‘cool’ factor seem to be the dodgy motorbike taxi riders.

I always wear mine........they have natty little side guards to stop the eye gnats trying to drink from my eyes.

Another plus living in Isaan.

Ever hear of auto correct or still have your original flip phone?

@ThreeCardMonte Why are you trying so hard? Who are you trying to impress? I do exactly the opposite. Then I know they are not interested in my money. You seem to want to advertise it. Look at me, look at me... No one here is impressed. 😊 Somehow you managed to get "Lefty" into a Sunglasses thread. Weird. You must be a bundle of fun for any companion 😊 I guess we understand why you need to lean so heavily on the money side of things. People with good characters can get on with anyone, regardless of money or status.

Go back and read my post.  Based on your reply it might take several attempts.

Your questions will be answered.  While you’re at it, ditch the camouflage cargo shorts.

My description of “lefty” is accurate.  Open your eyes on your walks about town.
