He got divorced

Featured Replies

Many of you have perhaps wondered why I haven't been on here the last few days

I have been "distraught" emotional

I was in a bar last Wednesday night

I sat near a farang aged 61yo from the UK had worked more than 45 years for a city council as a garbage collector,oh please can we be politically correct and say another name for that job perhaps !!!!

He couldn't afford to retire this a 2 week holiday in Pattaya

Anyway he spoke to me about his divorce at aged 58 yo , very very heartbroken story he lost 50% of his assets, house was sold

but..she forced him to take a low offer for a quick sale losing  him 50,000 pounds as she wanted a quick sale as it took a long time to sell apparently

"Oh if she had just waited...just waited he said we could of got higher offers !!!

I cried ...I really did ....I could feel the emotion in his voice as he told me he would have to work until 67 pension age

Trying to run behind a garbage truck at that age

All he could afford was a 1 bedroom flat you buy to live in the UK now

45 years of working down the drain because of DIVORCE !!!!!!

He worked 2 jobs at one stage to provide for her

Her lawyer forced  he  said of everything ,even his lawyer said fo it me ,just sell the house !

The bloodsucker lawyers took a lot

They were apparently all friends he said ,her lawyer his lawyer they all just said to mediation and agree

I was devastated listening to him

A house in the country they had in a rural city lost it all

I had to ask him though "do you have palm trees in your rural city in the northern part of the UK which unfortunately threw him off track and he stopped talking to say no we don't !!! Rudely

And I  left that night from our meeting to play sad songs in my hotel room in Jomtien crying

I even had a friend from Australia call me on WhatsApp to ask if I'm ok

Lucky I have never been married no thanks !!!

Please tell me if you ever got divorced and is it ok to only get 50/50

I would like to hear sad stories

To be honest that couldn't be further from the truth.

  • Yeah they do, all the time. First action their solicitor tells them to do, down the police station and report him for threatening, child abuse, stalking. Gets the guy removed from the house

I must say I thought they didn't run behind anymore ?

I know in Australia they were banned from standing on the back of the truck holding on

Certainly he was right ,very physical job st his age to do for the next 6 years

But I must say he did look very fit

When I divorced we split everything 50/50, she was working and deserved it. But it was very amicable, we didn't use a lawyer, my ex filed the papers herself, so we saved a fortune.

No one runs behinsd a garbage truck ! I can assure you of that, collections are now restricted and minimal, they are ALL automated and wheelie bins. They have to be placed in exactly the right lerbside position or fines can be imposed.

So all the operators have to do is wheel it about max 2 meters to the truck and the rest os hydraluic.

Gone are the days of carrying and throwing mate.

I only got 30% of our total assets

100% loss of property

50% loss of pensions

Ditto. Split 3 ways, One for me, one for her, one for 2 kids.

My first wife wanted nothing, but we split all assets without fighting. We were kids. We didn't have much.

My second wife got everything: house, car, money in the bank... everything. I was awarded the washer and dryer. Only.  Wiped me out completely.

I've been married to my third wife for 31 years. So far... so good.
I waited 17 years between #2 and #3, making sure that this time, I got it right. All the boxes were checked.
The difference? Stopped marrying American women. Best move I ever made.

Didn't he only own 50% of said assets and therefore walked away with only that 50%?

I don't understand why any person would not get a pre nup.  Especially here.  If she won't sign it, move on.

Many woman have an agenda and it does not always include a full life with one man.

I think an appropiate name for that job is a garbologist.

Cost me 2 houses, one on 1/3rd acre in the 95030 Calif zip code (one she burned down mid divorce trying to claim insurance settlements) & then came after my successful business (Chevron<CalTex here> Dealership) which I had to shut down to avoid monumental $$$ demands that would have basically made a monetary slave for at least 15 years....

I married a financial black widow & she knew exactly what she was doing.....She did it to the next guy too (who she was cheating on me with)....

My crime? Working hard to be successful.....

How did she force him?

If you are married for over 10 years....a 50:50 split is almost inevitable in the UK......so I don't understand how some people are claiming to come out of a divorce so badly?

Why is marriage like a hurricane?

At first everything is warm, cosy and calm.....then all of a sudden your house has gone.

According to him and thus is why I cried she took some sort of order to stop him talking to her

Talking or stalking?

The courts don't dole out these kinds of orders just for the sake of it.

Yeah they do, all the time.

First action their solicitor tells them to do, down the police station and report him for threatening, child abuse, stalking.

Gets the guy removed from the house and contact with any children within 7 days.

No evidence required, just her say so.

No, your crime is not having the discernment to get hitched up with the right woman.

And we all make that mistake at some point or other.

Many women would have stuck by your side with a successful business.

What the courts actually need........

Evidence of risk or harm: This could include threatening messages, medical reports, witness testimony, or a history of police involvement.

•  Safeguarding assessments: In family cases, the court often relies on reports from Cafcass (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) to assess risk to children.

•  Fact-finding hearings: If allegations are disputed, the court may hold a hearing to determine whether abuse or harassment occurred.

•  Proportionality review: Judges weigh the seriousness of the allegations against the impact of the order—especially if it affects parental contact or freedom of movement.

They are not just doled out on the claims of a partner.

Tell him move to Mae Hong Son. Buy a motorbike and do the loop 50 times. Soon forget about her.
