The members of this forum have no sympathy for anyone.  Worst collection of hardcases I have ever seen. No one acknowledges the fact that going to jail here is easier than nearly any country on earth. Once they've got you, they won't let go until your bank account is completely drained.

Did you recover?

Well darling the gig is up for you, suck it up and get a real job.

But what really peeves me are the idiots who fund these types by watching their un-interesting garage on tiktok etc...

Who else is dumb enough to advertise  own face, real name, and exact location while committing a clear criminal offence(welfare cheat)?

Anything she showed off in cyber space, will be used against her when back home.

No country on earth punishes overstayers as harshly as Thailand. They simply give you NO options.

Utter nonsense.

Thailand is no longer laid back like it was 20-30 years ago.

You have options,,, The first and obvious is dont overstay.  If you do overstay leave on your own and pay a fine at the airport on your way out. About 15-30 minute delay.

Get caught you still have options. Stay in IDC until you go to court to pay whatever fine the court decides (typically lower)  or pay the max fine get a ticket home and be deported.

Just read her details in the UK press .

She is saying she had to eat rat and rice , they charge up to £500 a month for a floor space to sleep on , she didn't claim benefit as that was a joke and she breast fed her kid as the kid wouldn't eat the food . Then chucked in that she breast fed someone else's kid and saved it from starving to death 🙄🙈

She'll be writing a book next and then the movie!

How does she qualify for this?  I get £93 a week after 44 years service on a frozen state pension.

You need to be a single mum with a kid with adhd, a pip claim + housing benefit = free car and £2200 per month!

😬🤣🚀

She got more interest, more followers more likes and more income .

May also have been using it to hide her real source of income ?

Yeah, but it was clear from the get go that this won’t fly and that the fallout would be severe. It was a very quick fix that very obviously was going to work short time only, and it was so obvious, too!

You forgot to mention the part it's illegal if you go and move abroad when claiming.

Wowza.  This is one convoluted story...  From various sources, completely unvetted by me.

The mum, from Lancashire, was arrested on 3 March by Thai immigration officials at her home in Pattaya after overstaying her visa, which was cancelled on 21 February. (That was fast...)

The TikToker previously appeared on ‘Judge Rinder’ claiming to have squandered a £6 million fortune, but she admitted that was all made up as well. However, she says it is true she once received £1.6 million from a lawsuit against Lancashire authorities, which she has since spent.

Matthews claims she can’t buy a plane ticket back to the UK due to restricted access on her bank account. While Thai authorities say she can leave upon securing a ticket, Matthews is worried social services might take her son if she returns.

She explained that although she has 'got the money' for one-way tickets home, she 'can't get to it because they won't allow her to access her bank account'.

The mum continued: "So what am I supposed to do? My visa was cancelled because some people in the UK have been trolling me and accused me of horrible things like human trafficking and child abuse.

"They got the Thai authorities involved and it's led to me ending up here. I should have left when my visa was cancelled but I couldn't because I didn't have the money at the time."

“All I want is to live peacefully with my baby,” she said, adding that she would prefer to move to Cambodia or Turkey, despite Thai officials insisting she can only return to the UK as a British national. (Gotta wonder on what basis she was able to leave her son in Thailand?)

How old is the son?

A British mother who made headlines for claiming UK benefits while living a lavish lifestyle in Thailand has returned to the UK, but her son remains abroad. Ellis Matthews, 32, found herself detained in Thailand after overstaying her visa, enduring harsh conditions in an immigration prison for over three months with her four-year-old son, Cairo.

After deportation, she had to make a difficult choice: she left Cairo in the care of a relative to prevent his placement in UK care.

Matthews, who earned notoriety on TikTok for allegedly claiming £2,300 (about 102,000 baht) a month in UK benefits while abroad, posted videos flaunting her supposed "dream life." Despite her online claims of fraud, Matthews insists the videos were merely a way to gather more followers and were entirely fabricated. Her online antics led to a fierce backlash, with accusations of exploiting the UK benefits system.

The former reality show contestant, who had appeared on "Judge Rinder", has been in hiding since returning to the UK due to the online abuse she has received. She stated, "Leaving Cairo behind was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do," adding that she feared her son would be taken into care if they returned together. Matthews describes herself as the target of a hate campaign accusing her of child abuse, reported Daily Mail Online.

In Thailand, the conditions were dire. Matthew recounts the grim environment of the detention centre, describing overcrowded cells, inadequate food, and a lack of medical care. Both she and her son faced malnutrition and illness during their confinement, and Cairo witnessed distressing scenes that have traumatised him.

Since her return, Matthews has shared numerous videos detailing her plight, describing the grim realities of her detention. However, her actions continue to stir public opinion, with mixed reactions ranging from criticism to sympathy. Critics argue that Matthews put herself in that position, whereas supporters express relief at her release and concern for her son's welfare.

A local anti-child abuse organisation voiced concerns about Cairo's wellbeing, prompting Thai authorities to take action. Matthews was arrested for visa overstay, a situation worsened by the lack of funds to leave the country. She maintains that the video claims were false, solely a means to achieve online fame and revenue. Her hopes of moving to another country, such as Cambodia or Turkey, were dashed by her arrest.

In the midst of ongoing scrutiny and fearing for both her safety and her son's, Matthews pleads for a chance to rebuild her life, stating, "I'm a single mother who's just trying to survive and raise her son."

Despite her public persona on TikTok, she insists that her maternal instincts have always been genuine.

Her case continues to highlight the complex intersections of social media influence, legal repercussions, and the realities of single parenthood abroad.

The implications of her situation remain uncertain as she navigates her next steps, aiming to reunite with Cairo in a secure location.
