Tourist police in Pattaya have arrested a Chinese national who overstayed his visa by almost two years after tracking him down to a petrol station in Jomtien.

On 2 September, officers from Tourist Police Subdivision 2, Division 1led by Pol Col Songwut Chueaplarkit and Pol Lt Col Somchanok Chaiprasertsakul, acting under the command of Pol Lt Kiattisak Janniyom, moved in on the suspect following surveillance.

The man, identified as Mr Liu, had reportedly evaded immigration checks and remained in Thailand for 678 days beyond his permitted stay. Investigators traced him to a pool villa in Pattaya before following him to a nearby petrol station.

When approached by officers, Liu appeared visibly shaken, with witnesses describing him as “hands trembling and face pale”. He was unable to produce a passport and admitted to having no valid documentation.

Police later confirmed his overstay status and transferred him to Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings.

Authorities urged members of the public to report any foreign nationals suspected of overstaying visas or engaging in illegal activity so that checks can be carried out promptly.

Surely they should be encouraging the public to report any person engaging in illegal activity, not just foreigners? :whistling:

Obviously he didn't like china to much, perhaps he could write a letter to Xi Jinping and complain.

A good effort, but nowhere near a record.
