Wood admitted her actions in court, expressing anger over Barr's plans to holiday without her

I'm sure he did exactly what she thought he was going to do too. In retrospect serves her right.

Forgetting the ability for somebody other than the passport holder to be able to report it as stolen, the article says she reported it last October?  So almost one year later he was still able to travel just recently?  The flight into DOHA had no issues and he was able to board and continue onto Phuket?  Actually the article doesn't seem to state when he did travel.  Based on the legal things and investigations it mentioned, this was not a very recent trip

Much of this article is based on an article that originally appeared in the Scottish Sun, October 28, 2024, hence October.

He must have done something pretty bad to piss her off like that

For some reason YouTube's algorithm has been sending me a bunch of videos about women who dumped men, then regretted their decision.  Some of them are downright evil.  Most are just sad...  Except for the guys.  They're as happy as clams.

So the arrest, the detention and the subsequent court case is all fictional?

if you are going to be a conspiracy theorist, at least choose a subject with a bit of an iffy substance to it

Like booking a holiday to Thailand for example.

It's a bit concerning that the Phuket immigration system functions better than at Edinburgh and Doha - what's the world coming to? :coffee1:

leave Doha out, as most likely he did not pass immigration in Doha during this transfer.

If you can travel out of UK with a stolen or lost reported passport then UK border protection really has a problem.

This would be shocking

An old rehashed story IMO, when you check in in the UK, boarding pass is issued, and then straight to the gate, where the boarding pass is simply scanned, and off you go.

You're aware that there's a lot of computer magic going on in the background, right?  That we don't see...  Especially if it's an international flight.

You should stat away from "the ladies of the night".

Actually ladies of the night are safer as long as you pay them.

I imagine frm reading this that she did it just as he was departing.

Did you care to read the article.

Rosie Wood from UK doesn't sound like your typical lady of the night?

Actually it does ....!

Thai authorities put him on a flight to Doha how was that possible and how would he get to the UK if they took his passport off him as it was showing as stolen 🤔

It's simple: Because they brought him to Thailand, it was their responsibility to remove him. They put him on the plane without his passport, which was handed to flight officials with an instruction to ONLY return it to him in the UK.

I'm unaware of current rules, but A long time ago, the Airline would have had to pay a fine to the Thai government for the blunder (bringing an inadmissible alien to the country).

They DO look at your Passport as well, before the B Pass.

I agree. It’s a while since I travelled, but I’m sure I go through passport control, which separates duty free etc from F&F dropping people off

I agree totally. Anecdotally in the past there have been stories of men travelling on the wife’s passport, and only realising on the return leg.
BTW. my post was regarding the guy who thought it was make believe

The airline has to submit a flight manifest to Big Brother, including passport numbers.  If the passport was flagged as stolen, it should have been caught on departure.  Otherwise, he may be a terrorist with a stolen passport and nefarious intent.

I believe you are correct so I wonder how this guys 'stolen' passport got thru? Which is obviously did!

So the moral of the story is if in the UK one has a vindictive partner with access to your travel documents, best check directly with the pp office your pp is still valid and they haven't cancelled it for you before splashing out on that Thai holiday. That seems to be how it works in the UK?

Scotsman Detained in Thailand After Ex Flags Passport as Stolen

Entering Thailand Immigration:

  • Sir, Do you have another proof of identity you can show?
  • Yes, my driver's license. I have credit cards in my name. I have my plane seat pass in my name.
  • Yes, you are the same person shown in your various forms of identity.
  • Did you know your passport was reported stolen?
  • No,
  • Obviously it was not stolen. Welcome to Thailand.

It is concerning that a person can board a flight with their passport clearances in this questionable condition.  For people shrugging this off ... may I remind you we are quite close to the anniversary of 9-11.  So yes, bad things can happen when security systems have holes in them.

I'm not a UK citizen, but I am a very frequent flyer with my US passport.

I don't recall ever needing to go through Immigration checks when departing from a US airport, as the inspections are done at my destinations or when I return back to the US.

Is this the same with how UK passport holders go through in their home airports?

Nah, it was his ex, so why would that be a trigger. I think there are much more things to consider.

Britain isn’t too bothered about who’s coming INTO the country, they sure won’t care about who’s leaving

I'm baffled by the lenient punishment, considering the damage she caused. As she doesn't have the means to pay compensation, she should do some serious time behind bars.

Leaving the UK, there is no passport check by immigration, the passport is only checked at check in by airline staff, they wouldn't know if it had been flagged as stolen?

this needs to be addressed then.
