  • It depends on which immigration office you want to get it from. Some give it the same day, at others you have to wait several days.

  • And your post most uninformative.  If you had stated your immigration office in the OP, you would  receive accurate advice then that would be useful to others.  COR has two aspects.  Co

Mine took 10 mins. Mind you I was waiting 20 mins in a que to get to the window to ask for a POR cert.

You are referring to Certificate of Residence COR.

Process time depends on immigration office. As does cost of the COR.

Note: perhaps folk can name their immigration office in any thread they start.

Want to narrow that down a bit and mention where you are in the 513,000 square kilometers that comprise Thailand and what immigration office you use?

😞

In Bangkok to get a certificate of residence, you go to the main immigration office located at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road building B floor 3 to the TM 30/90 day report room.

You need your passport and a TM 30 showing you're registered as staying in the are served by that office.

You pay 200 baht, fill out the form, provide the copies required and they give you a receipt that has an EMS tracking number on it.

They send you the certificate of residence in about 5 days to the address on the TM 30

COR has two aspects.

Cost + process time.

In some offices both are related

You can also get one from your embassy, though I expect it will cost more

Many embassies no longer provide the endorsement of address.

Yes also more expensive.

Obtain COR at immigration office.

The OP never indicated which office.

Unhelpful thread.

mine took a week - but it was free (koh Phangan)

Most expensive I've seen is 800b.

Some offices provide free COR with produced in a week or pay service fee and receive on the spot.

CW procedure outlined earlier by Tod.

With 75+ immigration offices its somewhat useless to advise the OP

For LTR visa I wasn't charged any cost.

Don't follow.

The fact COR was for LTR visa is somewhat irrelevant..

The cost and process time is determined by which immigration office you use.

eg CW = 5 days and 200b

The reason for requiring one does not affect that.

Chiang Mai you can pay 500 B and have it next morning

Also known as a TM 16

When we lived in Samut Prakan it was literally 5 minutes,  Hua Hin,  maybe ten..  because we had to walk over to the next building and get back in line

Yellow book solves that need

Jomtien takes about 2 hours and costs 300 Baht. They will not issue the CoR without a recent TM 30. Beware!

Which immigration ?

Which immigration ?

Didn't you start this thread

Also in that thread someone asked location.

This was your reply....

"The location is irrelevant, my question was “ what would you have done in my situation ? “

Yes, exactly !

What's your point.

The OP asked how long for a COR.

Thats actually a two part question.

1. How long is process

2. Cost.

In some places that's connected.

Without stating specific immigration office (location) the threads are a waste of time and effort.

BTW: I see in another thread that you paid 500b for a COR at Pathum Thani and zero at Ayutthaya immigration office.

Solves what need.

A COR is required for various things and a yellow book won't cover some

car/motor bike purchase,    visa extension/renewal,  and you get the book before you are issued a pink ID

what else ?

Renew TDL.

The OP did state....... "From immigration "

Seems he needs a COR

He doesn't need a yellow book for extension and didn't mention pink book.

and..    fresh off the press today   more oppression by the banks and needs for a yellow book....  getting crazy

I watch (rarely) video from that guy when I want a good laugh.

This video is no exception.

The guy (as pleasant as he seems) became tiresome when forever droning on about taxation that doesn't apply to most people here.

Now he seems to have developed a paranoia bordering on bitterness...... no longer a good watch.

There are so many threads on Yellow books.

Still - i was curious - so I watched the video.

There may be a trend for more people to get a Yellow Book, but most expats I know do not have one. Most I know have never found it necessary.

I obtained a pink-ID to go with my yellow book, but when I check into a hotel in Thailand, they still want my passport.

When I go to fly on a domestic flight, they still want my passport.

When I do most banking in Thailand, they won't accept my pink-ID by itself  (they still want my passport)  ... but i diverge.

reference the OP question. In Phuket, before I had my yellow-book/pink-ID to open a bank account, I needed a Certificate of Residence (COR) from the local immigration. I needed a passport sized image of myself when going to immigration (and passport), as they needed that to incorporate it into the COR. Apologies if such mentioned already.  When I went for my initial Thai driver's licence in Phuket, I needed the COR (and passport).

Having typed that, now that I have the yellowbook/pink-ID, I was able to use that combo in lieu of a new COR for my drivers licence renewal in Phuket.  I was able to open a new bank account in Phuket (Krungsri and also SCB) using my yellow book and pink-ID instead of going to immigration to get an updated COR.  i was also able to buy Thai government bonds at Bangkok Bank with my yellowbook/pink-ID, in lieu of a COR.   In every case, passport was still required.

The yellow book has other uses which have benefited me) , but in terms of this thread scope for a COR, IMHO a COR is more than adequate.

In Phuket (granted last time was ~4 or ~5 years ago) getting a COR was easy. Show up with one's passport photo, there may have been a form to fill in, and the COR was issued very quickly.
