Tourism Operators Urge Cash Coupon Plan for Foreign Visitors

Featured Replies

I don't see how coupons will entice anyone to visit.

What they really need to do is announce a few new hubs!

These coupons could be used at any store, distributing income to local communities,

You mean ……… just like money? I bet you’ll get lots of blank “WTF” stares from many vendors out there, who then have to go through the process of redeeming them.
The simplicity of cash makes so much more sense.

Maybe if the coupons were subsidized or even free it might work, but if got to pay full price, there is no point!

Use CASH!

And what sector of the market is this going to attract, the chinese & Indians!  Generally speaking the very sector that spends the least!!! 4 in a hotel room at an already reduced rate, 3 on a motor bike, frequently dines at 7 / 11 or the street markets.

Very well thought through,  just another brainless scheme that will eventually lead to the downfall of Thai tourism because this market sector is unsustainable!!!!

domestic tourism co-payment scheme with remaining funds from the first phase, ending on 31st October.

Why end it for Thais and resident expats who can tour and vacation in Thailand throughout the year?

Especially with annual events such as possible F1 racing and New Years.

How stupid can stupid get... 🤣

Just lower the prices based on market rates and not some make believe fairyland price (like the Bkk condo prices) + lower the Baht which has gone crazy and is now at one if its highest point.

Ohhhh believe me a lot more stupid. That’s what thais in Government do sad to say.  🙈

Happy Ending coupons for all!

Once more showing that, despite being a destination of mass tourism for decades, they don't really know what their international tourists want...

The Internatinal tourists want safety..fair prices..no dual prising..no taxi scams..no scammers..no street violence... Actually everything they don't get in Thailand.

What a stupid idea.In my country we only get coupons from the company we work for when have a new year party and the coupons we use in the bar because its already paid for.Free drinks!

But if no one goes there, how is it crowded????

It was a variation on a quip by the wonderful Yogi Berra talking about a restaurant.... he had many of these self contradictory funny sayings. He may have said "Nostalgia ain't what it used to be"... that sort of stuff

More corporate welfare. Privatise the profits and dump the losses onto the public. Corporations are socialist, not free enterprise.
