Marriage Extention

Featured Replies

I recently appiled for an extention based on marriage. It was granted verbally based on that I return a month later to have the stamp put into my passport. Unfortunately I can't make the date they want. My question is can my wife go to immigration and get it stamped for me?

I think you're a bit confused 😮  and I believe if you looked in your passport you would see that you have a stamp that says application for "extension of stay under consideration until" and then there is the date that you are to return back to the immigration office to get the one year extension inked into your passport.

There is no obligation for you to show up in person, anyone can take your passport to the immigration office and get that stamp inked in on the date that it says to show up.

So it will be fine for your wife to take your passport in for that stamp. You could call the immigration office and see if you could go a day early or a day late if you wanted to go yourself

If he's not in Thailand, his wife won't have his passport.

Why would he not be in Thailand?

No problem. The wife can take the pp to immigration for final stamp.

While not required you could write brief "authorization" Note with cell #.

(Won't be necessary)

Where does it say in the OP that he is not in Thailand?

I live in Buriram province. There are 2 immigration offices. In 20 years I've only had one home visit.

The date you need to come back on is not strictly enforced by the way.

Here in Phuket they would normally never meet their own deadline to get your paperwork done so they advise to check online first if the approval is there yet before stopping by. They even made a site for that (phuket only i suppose) :

http://www.phuketimmigration.go.th/cvisa.php

In the past it could take 2/3 weeks extra before you got your approval past the due date. Last year they started giving "return on xxx date" 6 weeks out instead of 4 so they can meet their own targets.

When i check online that my approval is in I easily take another 1-2 weeks before coming down the office. They never said anything about it.

So either send your wife on the mentioned date to immigration with your passport or do it yourself a couple of days later.
