A beach cleanup in Pattaya was urgently launched on September 8 due to safety concerns for tourists. Rocks had accumulated along Wong Amat Beach, posing risks for visitors. Pattaya’s mayor, Poramet Ngampichet, led the operation alongside local officials to address these hazards swiftly.

Leading the effort were Mayor Poramet Ngampichet and Poompipat Kamolnath, his secretary. They collaborated with the Natural Resources and Environment Office, focusing on relocating rocks that had gathered over recent months. Wong Amat Beach, known for its serene environment and fresh seafood, is a popular spot for both domestic and international tourists.

The sharp and slippery rocks had begun to pose dangers to unsuspecting visitors. The cleanup ensured the rocks were moved to safe areas, preventing them from drifting back into zones frequented by swimmers. This action aimed to preserve the safety and appeal of the renowned beach.

In addition to the immediate cleanup, Mayor Poramet announced future plans to keep Wong Amat Beach free from similar hazards. The initiative received positive feedback from the local fishing community, seeing it as a vital step in balancing tourism and environmental preservation.

Looking forward, the local government is committed to maintaining Wong Amat Beach as a safe, natural site for both visitors and the local community. The mayor emphasized the importance of preserving the area’s appeal while ensuring safety for all beachgoers.

Key Takeaways

  • Pattaya's mayor initiated a cleanup to remove hazardous rocks from Wong Amat Beach.

I doubt the rocks had gathered over the past months...more likely that

due to man made interventions  on the beach a bit further south  nature has removed the top covering of sand exposing the rocks in the northern part

I suspect this will continue to proceed southwards..unless there is more man made intervention.
