Police in Lopburi are investigating a tragic case in which a 52-year-old shop owner shot his teenage son dead before later taking his own life at a resort. The incidents occurred between 10 and 11 September, leaving the mother as the sole survivor. Authorities confirmed the man, identified as Mr. Chanachot, was found dead at a resort in Phatthana Nikhom district on the evening of 11 September.

On 10 September, officers from Tha Luang Police Station were alerted, by the hopsital, to the death of 16-year-old Mr. Thanapoo, shot at his home in Nong Phak Waen, Tha Luang district. His mother, Mrs. Siriporn, aged 46, discovered him lying on his bed with a serious head injury after asking an employee to wake him. Despite being rushed to Chai Badan Hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Investigators found no signs of a struggle in the boy’s room, which was located about 100 metres from the family home. Forensic officers later discovered the wound to the back of his head was from a gunshot and then recovered a bullet at the scene. An autopsy confirmed he had been shot once in the head with a firearm.

Mrs. Siriporn told police that her husband, Mr. Chanachot, had been stressed over employee fraud at his wholesale business and had previously spoken about wanting to die with his family. On the morning of 10 September, he left their home in a white Toyota Fortuner, registration number from Lopburi and could not be contacted thereafter. She initially did not realise he was involved in her son’s death.

Police launched a search after concerns that he might harm himself. At around 21:20 on 11 September, officers from Khok Samrong Police Station were called to a resort on the Saraburi-Lom Sak Road in Moo 9, Khok Samrong subdistrict. Staff reported that the man had checked in the previous evening but failed to respond when checkout time passed.

Inside the resort room, officers found Mr. Chanachot dead in the bathroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left temple. He was holding a .38 calibre revolver, with four rounds in the chamber and one spent casing. Items found included a can of beer, a carton of milk, his car keys and the firearm.

Forensic examination suggested he had been dead for at least 10 hours. His body was sent to Phramongkutklao Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to complete reports into both deaths and support the family in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Tragedy, although the story is a bit strange. The boy was shot, brought to hospital and declared deceased, but later the forensics found the gunshot...Was there a letter? If he killed his son on the 10th in the morning, why took it so long before he committed suicide? As they found him the day after in the evening and was dead about 10hrs. Many questions
