Police have arrested two senior executives of a Thai IT company on charges of fraud and tax evasion that allegedly caused state losses of more than 79 million baht. The suspects, aged 60 and 53, were detained separately at their residences in Min Buri, Bangkok and Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani. Both men were identified as company directors and taken into custody by officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) on 12 September.

Massive Fire Destroys Plastic Factory in Rayong

A large fire broke out at a plastic recycling factory in Maptaphut Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, Rayong Province, on the morning of 13 September 2025, burning for over three hours and producing thick black smoke with a strong, widespread smell. Firefighters deployed multiple fire engines to control the blaze, which completely destroyed the factory, though fortunately no injuries were reported. Residents nearby heard several loud explosions as the fire intensified.

Ex-Treasurer Jailed for 50 Years for Local Fund Fraud

A court has sentenced former head of finance at Nong Thao Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, Nakhon Phanom, Mr Pisit, to an initial 517 years in prison for embezzling public funds from community economic projects. The judgement was handed down by the Central and Regional Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. Mr Pisit was also ordered to repay 12,835,133.56 baht to the local administration.

Authorities in Chiang Mai are investigating after a woman’s body was discovered floating in the Mae Ping River, in Ban Aen Subdistrict, Doi Tao District. The body was found on the afternoon of 12 September 2025 in a decomposed state, with no clothing and the identity of the deceased unknown. Rescue teams from the Tevarit Metta Tham Chiang Mai Association, the Disaster Response Club of Doi Tao and Hod Rescue responded to the scene.
