No but presumably you wouldn't want to just stay in Thailand for a few days

The extension you refer to is a permission of stay stamp.

Look at the stamp in pp.

It will have "until date" meaning expiry date.

You exit prior to that.

How long do you wish to stay in Thailand.

Not really clear what you are asking

You can stay out of Thailand as long you want, but you will need to come back before the "until date" of your permission-of-stay stamp if you want to renew your extension.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Yes, thanks.

Someone may want to chime in with whether the OP needs to get a re-entry permit on his way out.

I think he does, but that's not something I've done so I know just enough to be dangerous.

On my WP based extensions, my employer always bought a multi-entry re-entry permit without me even asking.  In fact, I didn't even know what that stamp was for in my first year or so...

The OP has not clarified.

Who knows what he is asking.

I was going to mention in first post that if he exits Thailand with intention to reenter prior to expiry of current permit stamp then he needs to buy a reentry permit.

The thread is all guess work.

Yes, thanks

If you're coming back for your annual renewal,  you will need to buy a single reentry permit from Immigration before leaving. I think you can buy one at the airport, but I always got mine when I did my annual renewal. I got the multiple reentry permit, so I could leave & come back several times.

Make sure you have a reentry visa BEFORE you leave, then you can spend time outside Thailand and return no problem.

Make sure you are in Thailand BEFORE the date your visa extension expires so you can renew it.

You can and very good option.

At airport they offer a service fee of 200b to do the form  + photo etc.

Single entry 1000b at both immigration and at airport.

3800b for multi.

At airport they offer (optional) service fee of 200b to fill in form + photo etc .

Using that service you pay 1200 single and 4000 multi.

Just hand over passport. No photocopies etc nothing
