Phuket Police Hunt Foreign Suspects in American’s Robbery

I don't understand the attraction to these high end watches.

You buy them to show off otherwise what's the point.

If you show it off you risk getting it stolen.

Lose-lose situation.

I have a good quality Seiko watch that I like and works perfectly for me. If it gets stolen I will be sad for a few days but then get over my $250 loss. Losing a $100k watch would leave me sad for much more than a few days.

  • Tough lesson to learn the hard way. DON'T flaunt that kind of bling here.

  • It could also be a copywatch from Mr Wong and then again it could also be an insurance scam

That stuff is designed for rich people when they hang out with a bunch of other rich people.

If everyone else around you is rich, then it's not only ok but probably expected.

I hope they catch these guys. keep us posted.

I think there are easier ways to perpetrate an insurance scam, e.g. reporting a theft.  Actively participating in being knocked off one's moving scooter is unnecessarily fraught with risk of actual injury, etc.

How could someone be able to identify such watch during a rain storm? And why would someone wear such watch during a rain storm?

That's true you shouldn't wear an expensive watch like that in the rain just in case it leaks

No, in KSA, if you get caught stealing and found guilty, twice, you got no hands, neither left or right!

The consequence of this is you occasionally see one handed men walking around, but never a man with no hands!

Yes, definitely those Brits

Yes, they turned out to be 'Brits' in the latest report.

But look at the names, Brits by Nationality only it seems.

British nationals: 26 year old Hussain Meer, 25 year old Mir Wayne Carew, 25 year old Yanne Sarkawt, and 27 year old Malique Kai Walters.

But the Brit haters will continue with their negative comments, they do make me laugh. 😄

Easy! just head to Siam Paragon; there’s a Patek Philippe boutique there. The staff are very friendly, the service is excellent, and they serve great coffee.

Not true!

Only the right hand can be cut off and only under very strict criteria.

In Saudi Arabia's Sharia-based legal system, cutting off both hands for repeated theft is not a standard hudud punishment for simple theft (sariqa). However, it can occur in specific cases of aggravated theft (hirabah, e.g., highway robbery or banditry), where cross-amputation (right hand and left foot) or, in extreme cases, additional penalties for recidivism might apply.

Aggravated Theft (Hirabah): For banditry or robbery with violence, the penalty can be cross-amputation (right hand and left foot) or, in severe cases, death (Quran 5:33). Repeated hirabah could theoretically lead to further amputations (e.g., left hand), but this is extremely rare and requires judicial consensus.

Please provide a link to an example of this ever happening legally under Sharia law in SA.

Without the certificate of authenticity and original box, it is worth less.
But easy to sell on Chrono24.

Any high-end watch dealer can tell you in a matter of minutes if it's the real deal. Numerous high-end watch shops sell used ones without the box or papers. However, they guarantee that they are real and still command a large price. Of course, if you have the box and the relevant documents, you will get a better price.

You can do that yourself, GPchat has become your best friend. I should know, because I bought an Omega without a box or certificate, and luckily it was an original.
