It will do any financial harm in the scheme of things....................or can you offer a better solution.

Yes, remove the tax loopholes that are stripping Government of the funding it needs to support the pensions the nation needs.

Affording pensions is only part of the ‘aging population’ challenges.

A far bigger financial cost is the provision of health and welfare care for an aging population that are living longer with the chronic diseases of old age.

Did you forget the word NOT?

Mid 2040's? Righto! Likely there will be no jobs to retire from. Self repairing robots will do the lot. Imagine a soapie in 2045 (Zager & Evans got it right.)🙃🙃

Why bother paying money to old white people born in the UK, when you can spend it all on young non-white men born outside the UK?

Ukraine, Zelinsky, and illegal migrants need that money more than old white Brits.

erm…..

I'm too old to work.

Nobody has taken a job from me.

erm in the case of illegals they should not be taking jobs off anybody as they are not allowed to work. However  the money required to support these illegal immigrants and eventually their families, would be a welcome addition to the state pension pot,

So what is stopping that from happening now then is it too difficult for rachel from customer services

Ah the benefits of DEI  a gift that keeps on giving

May be not by raising the pension age alone, but, when combined with a purge of illegal immigrants, a change in foreign aid policy to one we can afford,,  and an upgraded, "fit for purpose" border control force, things could only get better for the UK and its population

Go on admit it  you rather like the idea, how could anybody not ?

And getting rid of the DEI madness and focusing more on meritocracy. Many government bodies/departments are way over staffed, or badly staffed, with people on large salaries who serve no beneficial purpose to the country. Unfortunately, voting in another government is unlikely to address the problem as it is the civil service who appear to be pulling the strings on most matters.

Paying a pension at 80 and working until 80 are different. The average salary is £37,800 and people will be lucky to keep much. I honestly don't know how British people can live.

You'd think after Covid was allowed to ravage through Old Folks' Homes, there would be plenty in the kitty; pensions are not paid to dead people.

So just think how  bad things would be now if it wasn't for covid !     now maybe I'm on to something here

the "woke"  civil service is a real problem these days. Not sure who is capable of reigning them in, they badly need it though, and sooner rather than later, as they are out of control

And for the millions of Muslims that keep pouring into the UK as gusts of PM Sir Keir Rodney Starmer.

I guess that the 4 members that didn't approve of my post are either Muslims or Muslims appeasers.

And lets not forget , in another 40 or so years all these military age immigrants will be eligible for a state  pension, despite paying nothing in to the system.   yet another perfectly valid  reason to repatriate them asap

Who want to just destroy everything anyway any how.

I didn’t say they were.

That’s the reactionary rightwing lie.

And Israel, Netanyahu.

And yet the average length of time to claim the state pension in the UK is 8 years.

I don't know what your post means.

In Australia, one can claim the OAP immediately they reach pension age. Unless they are overseas at the time, which opens a whole new can of worms.

Are you saying people defer claiming their pensions when they are eligible, to build up their equity?

With so many illegal migrants it will to rise to 90 years of age as it’s unaffordable to hard up U.K. in the future where so many are on bennys and no jobs for unskilled humans

Israel, Netanyahu? are you on the right topic mate? since when the UK supported Israel with money,

or anything else for that matter? the 9 Muslim UK mayors and the 25 Muslim members in the house of common

wouldn't have approved any of it.

No I'm saying they no longer collect their pension after 8 years because they're dead.

Average lifespan of a man born in the 1950s is 74 according to actuarial tables.

I think that's a bit optimistic as most of the men I've known are dead well before age 70, but the government hides it, nobody will work to age 67 if they think they'll be dead before retirement.

Did most of the men you have known have quite unhealthy lifestyles?

The low life expectancy of Russian men is mostly ascribed to chronic alcoholism.
