A pickup truck carrying durians overturned on Asia Highway 41 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, leaving a father and his five-year-old son dead and three other family members seriously injured. The accident occurred at 14.30 on 19 September 2025 near Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya in Thung Yai district. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transported the victims to hospital, where two were later confirmed dead.

Police and rescue teams from Siam Ruamjai Pu In Krung Yhan Foundation and Tai Tek Tung Thung Yai Foundation found the grey Ford pickup truck, registration from Krabi, severely damaged. Durians were scattered across the road and five people were trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue workers used hydraulic cutting equipment to free them and transferred all five to Thung Yai Hospital.

Doctors confirmed that the deceased were Mr Phongsiri Prikdaeng, 35 and his son, Master Phasakorn Prikdaeng, aged 5, both from Khanom district in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Three others sustained serious injuries: Ms Paweenuch, 24, Miss Phimnisa, a one-year-old girl and an unidentified man. Due to the severity of their conditions and the need for advanced medical equipment, the injured were transferred to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital. Reports later confirmed all three were out of danger.

Investigations revealed the victims were travelling together in the same pickup when the vehicle driver lost control and overturned. Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel or swerved to avoid an obstacle. Forensic teams and investigators gathered evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash.
