A 33-year-old man in Samut Prakan has been arrested after allegedly killing his 24-year-old girlfriend following a dispute over online gambling losses. The incident started at their townhouse on Soi Mitr Maitri, near Bang Yha Phraek, on the evening of 18 September 2025.

The couple had been dating for approximately two months. According to reports, the victim used a mobile phone to gamble online, losing around 25,000 baht, which led to a verbal altercation. The suspect, identified as Mr Nattapong, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, striking her on the neck, back and abdomen. Police confirmed the victim was found with bruising on her face, neck and body.

Police were alerted when the suspect discovered the victim unresponsive the following day, around 12:30 on 19 September. He was found sitting with his mother and grandmother on the sofa and subsequently taken for questioning at Samrong Tai Police Station. The victim’s body was sent to the Police Hospital’s forensic institute for an official autopsy.

Authorities recovered items at the scene, including electrical cords and charging cables near the victim. Initial investigations suggest she had been dead for at least 12 hours before discovery. The suspect has admitted to the assault and police have formally charged him with causing death by assault.

Family members reported witnessing tension between the couple the previous evening. The suspect’s mother noted that the victim had sought help after being attacked but later returned to her room. The assault resumed in the early hours, ultimately resulting in her death.

Police continue to investigate the case and will notify relatives once the autopsy results are confirmed. The suspect remains in custody as legal proceedings are prepared. Authorities emphasise the seriousness of domestic disputes escalating into fatal violence.
