The measure aims to prevent protesters from harming Thai officials stationed near the border. Man Re-Arrested Minutes After Prison Release

A 29-year-old man was re-arrested less than five minutes after leaving Lamphun Provincial Prison on 19 September. The suspect, identified as Kamolthep Lamphao, had just completed a sentence for fraud when police detained him on multiple outstanding warrants. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau, together with investigators from Chiang Mai’s Mae Ai Police Station, executed the arrest at the prison gates.

Man Kills Girlfriend Over Online Gambling Loss of 25,000 Baht

A 33-year-old man in Samut Prakan has been arrested after allegedly killing his 24-year-old girlfriend following a dispute over online gambling losses. The incident started at their townhouse on Soi Mitr Maitri, near Bang Yha Phraek, on the evening of 18 September 2025.

Man Stabs Convenience Store Worker Over Payment

A 32-year-old convenience store worker in Nonthaburi was seriously injured after being stabbed in the neck by a male customer who refused to pay for alcohol. The incident occurred on the night of 19 September 2025 at a store in Soi Wat Koo, Bang Phut, Pak Kret district, prompting police and rescue teams to respond immediately. Baht Surge Linked to 500bn Baht Money-Laundering Inflows

Thailand’s sharp currency appreciation is being linked to large-scale money-laundering operations converting cryptocurrency into baht. Digital asset experts estimate that around 500 billion baht has already been laundered through this channel, with funds then invested in gold, real estate and corporate bonds. The surge has strengthened the baht by 7% since the beginning of 2025, raising concerns over the stability of the Thai financial system.

A 25-year-old Moroccan woman died after jumping from the seventh floor of a hotel in central Bangkok in the early hours of 20 September 2025. Emergency responders discovered her body near the hotel’s pool area, with head injuries and other trauma. Police and forensic teams are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall.

Man High on Drugs Fires Gun at Villager, Captured by Locals

A 57-year-old man was injured after a 47-year-old man, allegedly under the influence of drugs, fired a gun at him in Phatthalung province late on 19 September 2025. The loss occurred after a group of ladyboys approached him and his friend, offering sexual services, which he declined. The suspects reportedly separated from the scene before the victim realised his necklace had been taken.

Village Head Allegedly Hired Hitman Over Life Insurance Dispute

A 24-year-old rescue worker, Sarayut Nokchan, was shot dead on 11 September in Ban Phraek, Ayutthaya Province, in what police now say was a contract killing allegedly orchestrated by the village headman. The incident occurred at around 21:00 on a roadside near Khlong Noi, with Sarayut killed at close range while riding his rescue motorbike. Authorities have since arrested the alleged gunman, 31-year-old Wacharawit “Joe” Sroikham, who confessed to carrying out the shooting.

Baht Strength Not Driven by Speculative Capital, Says BOT

The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has confirmed it has not detected any abnormal capital inflows or speculative activity, despite the baht’s sharp appreciation in recent weeks. The central bank clarified that the “Net Error & Omission” (NEO), a statistical item in the Balance of Payments, is not a new inflow of funds but a gap that has already influenced the exchange rate.

Woman Jumps from Sixth Floor in Rama 9 Mall

The handover was conducted by Pol Col Napatsaphong Khositsuriyamanee, Chief of Chonburi Immigration, alongside Pol Lt Col Kawinwat Arayasurivong and Pol Lt Col Thong Kotonan on 19 September 2025. Immigration Bureau Rejects Reuters Trafficking Claims

14-Year-Old Novice Monk Found After Falling in Spillway

A 14-year-old novice monk, known as Phret, was found deceased after being swept away in a spillway in Ban Kham, Chatu Raas district, Chaiyaphum province. His body was discovered at 07:00 on 20 September 2025, more than two kilometres from the site where he fell. Authorities recovered the body and covered it with cloth before awaiting a detailed examination by local police and medical personnel.

Foreign National Sues Udon Thani Farmer Over Smoke

An Udon Thani farmer, 61-year-old Samoe Tiangthae, has been sued by a foreign neighbour and his Thai wife, who claim smoke from charcoal fires and insect-repelling flames for his cattle caused illness and damaged an air purifier. The couple is demanding 100,000 baht in compensation, while Samoe, a local resident, says he cannot afford the amount.
