A 46-year-old man was arrested in Chonburi after fatally assaulting his friend during a drunken quarrel inside a temple. Police confirmed that the victim, a 52-year-old man, died at the scene with multiple injuries to his head and body. The suspect was detained within the temple grounds shortly after the incident.

The attack took place at Wat Pa Yup in Sattahip district at around 02:00 on 26 September 2025. Investigators said the suspect, identified as Manoch, had been drinking with the victim, Somkiat from Kamphaeng Phet province, when an argument broke out. According to initial testimony, the dispute escalated after the victim allegedly used offensive language.

Police and rescue teams were alerted to the case at 08.30 later, the same morning. On arrival, they discovered Somkiat’s body lying face down under a blanket near the funeral hall, showing clear signs of repeated blows from a blunt object. Closed-circuit television in the temple recorded the altercation, providing key evidence for investigators.

Monks living in the temple told police they had heard loud arguments and challenges during the night. They added that both men had been staying overnight in the temple before the fatal fight. Officers quickly traced the suspect and seized a wooden stick with blood stains as evidence.

During questioning, Manoch admitted to striking his friend several times with the stick after the victim allegedly tried to hit him first. He claimed the fight ended with both men parting ways and he only later realised the victim had died. Police have since conducted a crime scene re-enactment with the suspect, who has been charged with causing the fatal injury.

The case is now proceeding through the legal system. Police said the charge is assault causing death, which carries a long prison sentence. Investigators will continue gathering evidence before forwarding the case to prosecutors.

As they say "that's what friends are for" ...

Rage is never far from the surface in Thailand.

R.I.P. man.

So drunks are allowed to rest up in temples?  Monks heard the altercation and didn't investigate.  The deceased could have taken hours to die before his corpse was discovered the next day.

There appears to be murders everyday in Thailand, maybe murders will surpass the numbers killed daily on motor bikes. Thai males spit the dummy very easily and can't control their mongrel tempers. Many of them are like Pitbull Terriers with Poodles hearts in that they make sure that the odds are always stacked heavily their favour. What would the crime rate be in Thailand if it wasn't for the fact that they are all devout Buddhists?

They kill even a small argument. They can't control the anger.I sat in a restaurant in surin by a lake.3-4 thais sat about 30 m from me.Suddently hell broke out.A gang arrived and attack them. One guy get totally crazy and kicked and throw stones at another guy.The restaurant owner told them to stop but it didn't help. The crazy angry guy smashed a full beer bottle on the top of the head of the guy they looked for.It was terrible to look at.Blood all over and it didn't stop before the police and ambulance arrived. The reason was that one guy had send a txtmsg to the crazy guy girlfriend. So he took a whole gang with him.Im sure he would have killed him if the police didn't arrive so fast.

Sounds like it, they took minding their own business to the extreme. You would think of all places one could complain about noise, one where you have to get up at 4am would be it.

Truly. I'll tell you the reasons: in Asia, parents don't know how to love their children. There's an attitude toward children like cattle from whom something can get. When these unloved children grow up, they also don't know how to love their own children. It's a vicious circle. Mental illnesses flourish in such people.

Utter nonsense!

Thais seem devoted to their children.
