Problems connecting to Asean Now using Android Phones

Featured Replies

I am having major problems in connecting to my AN account using Android mobile phones.

I have tried using three phones, Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro running Android 7, XTEL V02 running Android 13 and Vivo Y2043 running Android 11. In all 3 cases AN loads (using the Chrome Browser, but as soon as I sign in, it starts to "stall" 10% of the way into loading a fresh topic or page. It will go to the notifications page, and from there you can go to a post which was commented on or given an emoji, but again no further. Eventually you get the Cloudfare Timeout Host Error page. I get exactly the same result with each of the three phones (the XTEL is slow, but that is because it is a cheap crap Chinese phone with less memory than Adam and Eve's apple, and a processor which dates from around the same time) but not with my PC on which I am writing this post.

This is not the first time I have had this problem. Earlier in the year, posting as "herfiehandbag" I had exactly the same problem. Then Forum Support said that there was no fault at "their end". I persuaded them to reinstate my previous account which had been indefinitely suspended in 2002, and I returned to the fray under my initial user name "JAG" (my initials). Now the problem has returned, a different account, and three different phones and operating systems!

All very perplexing. Support again say that they have no reports of errors, a follow up message from me underlining the point that ithe problem occured using three different phones and operating systems has gone unanswered: so I open it up for more general comment.

Having deployed as much logic as I can (as a bear of very little brain) I have to assume that the problem is when my log in details interact with AN. It is almost (and here we are perhaps getting into conspiracy theory territory) as if someone has managed to put some sort of block in the system against me - but that would have to be someone who was aware, or worked out, that "Herfiehandbag" and "JAG" was the same person - perhaps not too difficult, my stance on various contentious issues and posting styles havent changed, and I have to admit there are a few on here who probably virulently dislike me!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the cause of this, and what if anything I can do?

I use an android phone and it's currently ok, maybe it's your internet connection, check the speed, my 3BB sometimes stalls

Ive just done a speedtest. 94.59 download, 93.84 upload (3BB Chiang Rai).

Ive also tried 3 different browsers, Chrome, Brave and Samsung Internet; same problem

All this reinforces my conclusion that the problem iswith AN, and particular to my account.

Thank you for the suggestion. Now if only Forun Support would answer...

I doubt they will admit that it has to do with their implementation of Cloudflare verifications.

Just keep posting using your PC  ?

I have no problems with posting using an Android phone

but as alluded to  above maybe try a "user agent switching/spoofing

app  or just the desktop version in your android browser instead of the mobile version...perhaps it's to do with your internet IP address  provided by the ISP you use  and 'cloudflare' not liking it too much in combination with the browser used.

Did you try using a VPN yet ?

As a side I also sometimes get massive slowdowns  having  many

(more that 5 or so)  depends

asean-now tabs open at the same time  and sometimes not.

Try just one open tab in the browser.

Thank you for your response. Of course I can use only my PC, although I do like the convenience of posting from my armchair!

I will try your suggestions about desktop versions and VPNs, I rarely have more than one tab open on my browser.

I have also tried a different service provider - I live right next to a school and can access their WIFI.  Same problem. So thats three phones, three operating systems, three browsers and two ISPs!

Well that is indeed quite suspicious.

Move the armchair  /   PC closer together 😋 😄

Are these three mobile phones using the same provider?

Try hotspotting on your phones and then accessing AN on your laptop via the hotspot.

I have done a "factory reset" on two of the three phones. Makes no difference.

Found this............. .................Chat support had me type out the entire url string including the https://www and it worked. He mentioned that this is the second time he heard of this today, and may be to either a hubspot or ios update that relates to routing websites and SSL certificates......................................... Have you also tried using mobile data and not wifi? Also try a different wifi connection besides the school. Of course clearing the cache.
