Fascism

People get the definition of "fascism" completely wrong these days and have no idea of what it was really like in its hay-day. People these days get called fascist for being center-ground or mildly right, or even slightly to the right of Stalin. Anyone who uses the word "fascist" for anything other than the most extreme of the extreme like ISIS is showing a complete ignorance and misunderstanding of history. People that call others in democratic societies a fascist are usually far-lefties that don't understand what real fascists are. Leaders like Trump or Farage you can have your opinion on, but they are not fascists.

The original "fascist" was Mussolini and his black stirts, not Hitler's Germany, as they were national socialists... I know, kind of an inconvenient truth for many. At the time, fascism was actually quite fashionable and Italy was praised by many for having such an effective system. Hitler's Germany adopted it, but the difference was that the Nazis believed in an Aryan race, and fascism locking in well with that, hence the future killing.

The problem is that the word "fascist" has been popularized and is thrown around so much that most people no longer realise it's true meaning... its meaning and significance has been diminished and trivialized. The closest thing to fascists now is extreme Islamic terrorists like ISIS or somewhere like North Korea. If you want an example of far-left fascism, then look at the Soviet Union under Stalin, the NKVD, 1930s purges, Bolshevics etc. People now have no idea of the terror and suffering inflicted by these 20th century entities compared to society now... it was complete and utter terror and oppression back then, and not even close to the mild stuff we see today.

Wow. Could not get through all this. Actually, Fascim does not need a triesome explaination. It's very simple really.

Landslide? Resulting in the knife edge majorities which they hold in Congress, and the slim majority in the overall vote?

Getting around such slim majorities by sending Congress down if inconvenient opposition emerges (votes which may enforce actions which the executive doesn't like) and partisan reactions like refusing to allow a Congresswomen who has won herr seat in a special election because it may affect the result of a vote which the house is procedurally required to hold in the near future.

It gets a little bit tiresome to be called fascists  when the Government is enforcing law made by a Congressional bi partisian effort enacted decades ago.

The Congressional bi partisan effort enacted decades ago almost certainly did not envisage nor authorise masked unidentifiable heavily armed militias, midnight raids on entire appartment blocks, and tossing CS gas out of slow moving unmarked cars at protestors; all practices witnessed recently. Nor did it envisage detainees being removed to detention centres in other states, often at the other end of the country,  where they are held incommunicado, where it is made as difficult as possibles for their lawyers to communicate with them to ensure any semblance of due process. It did not envisage masked unidentified men holding sway, dragging spouses from their partners and parents from their children and bundling them into unmarked vehicles.

The Congressional bi partisan effort was made in accordance with the provisions of The United States Constitution, provisions which are being regularly ignored and flouted.

All basic markers of authoritarian fascism - which is so often hallmarked by twisting legal processes to substantiate the regimes practices.

If the reaction to abusing legal processes as is being done so openly and enthusiastically is becoming tiresome, then stop abusing those processes and follow both the spirit and letter of the laws  enacted by that Congressional bi partisan effort.

A long post but dead right! Is it possible to get back to the rule of law? Not while Trump is oin charge.

Yes it is a long post, but there is an awful lot to cover!

By get "back to rule of law", the left means stop deporting illegal aliens, open the border back up, ignore crime in big cities, let men back into girls' showers and provide free gender reassignment surgeries for prisoners, and let men convicted of sex crimes into women's prisons if they say they are women, and allow violent protestors run wild.

Complete utter delusional nonsense, hope you recover from this and it doesn’t happen to you again. Guess not though.

Musk is definitely a fascist, but, thank god, he is not in charge anymore. Not that he was ever elected into any public office.

How do you know, is he still not the puppet master? Or is it Putin or Bibi?

Who knows? According to "The Rest Is Bulls*|!", Bibi seems to be a Vader reincarnation... 😆

Side note, I'm very patriotic, and the 'system' worked just fine for me.  Understood it, used it, and retired at 45 yrs old.   Land of Opportunity, just need to utilize those opportunities.

Well, if the audience is restricted to those who reply - "the usual suspects" so to say, with varying degrees of frothy mouthedness ( is there such a word?) then perhaps so. But then they dont really read or ponder the post do they, just launch into a tirade, which as I am not particularly "left wing" (as anyone who followd me on the threads pertaining to the UK will know) is rather wasted.

I'm not an American, but I follow events worldwide, and the spectacle of the American constitutional and democratic experiment unravelling so quickly is a compelling one, and one with tragic and perhaps undeserved consequences for many.  That is why I comment, in the hope not particularly that people respond, but that, if like me, they are observing and concerned, they consider my points whilst forming their opinions.

I certainly dont expect to convert the usual suspects, although it is often illuminating and entertaining to observe their reactions.

One just needs to listen to Trump and his aids to understand that it's the opinions of those on the left that are accompanied by hostility and even hatred! 🤣

That makes no sense at all. Instead of making an epitome of yourself of the quotations of Sowell, try disputing one of them.

He can't keep getting re-elected. Term limits are written into the Constitution.

The loop hole they are looking at relates to....... 'cannot be elected' ..........for a third term!!!!

But he's a fascist and he's going to get Hegseth kill anyone that gets in his way, except Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel can have his show back, Trump's not THAT much of a fascist

Right, you stepped in it again reenforcing another Sowell quote directed squarely on top of your disposition…
