Only loan money to others if you can afford not to ever see it again and not lose sleep over it.

In Yorkshire you'll hear....

Lend me 10p, I don't want to break in to a 20.

  • A golden rule in Thailand for any foreigner. Avoid as much as you can the other foreigners as you have no idea who they really are and what they are running away from back in their homelands.

  • There are several kinds of foreigners here. Avoid them all. The Thais are easier to get along with.

I won't be going back as I don't want to end up in a hot room in the flybird condominium or the Nirun condiments where all day you sit in a 21sqm box

Imagine that retirement, waking up to boredom everyday

The only person you speak to is the security guard as you say sawatdee kup

They the old farangs sit lonely all day with TVs blaring in a room by themselves

Some even have that song Lemon tree playing !!!

How would you know how many old foreigners sit lonely all day in their rooms unless you were joining them, and that would still be only a few perhaps? I would think most older expats are with wives and girlfriends, doing whatever during their days.

Must cost you a fortune with a GF

I had a Thai person tried to latch onto me ,using me to go to places like museums etc and expecting me to pay

No thanks I prefer to be single

No, it just means I trust everyone until I have reason not to.

When I loan money, I know it’s not all coming back. Why get caught up in a lot of nonsense?

Nothing wrong with having a trusting nature, although some do take advantage of it. Those are the ones you don't trust again. I look at it as a gift. If it comes back, good, if not, you don't lend them anything again. My girlfriend has a friend who borrowed 3000 baht 2 years ago and never paid it back, and she still keeps asking for more. I convinced her people do this, and they're not friends, and they even try to make you feel guilty sometimes, if you let them.

Banks don't lend money to people who need it. They only lend to people with collateral.

Even if lending money to a mate get him to write down his intended repayment terms. Doesn't stop him reneging but does stop him denying stuff.

Why would it cost me a fortune? I help her, she helps me, like all decent relationships. In a marriage, bot are supposed to support each other, any way they can. If you're single, and you want a woman, or man, those in the trade, that will still cost you. Cash, possible STD, maybe mugged by a boyfriend. Or you could just date normal men and women, and just pay for whatever. You don't let anyone take advantage of you, as their character comes out soon enough.

Have you ever been up to the flybird condominium to look in the open doors?

Around early afternoon is the best you can see many elderly farangs laying on their beds doors open

But admit it you haven't done that,

I do not have a trusting nature. I ran a loan racket for about eight years. I assume everyone will try to beat me.

I’m an old man, if I’m going to be surprised, I would rather it be a pleasant surprise.

You have not explained how it is gullible. Saying something a second time does not make it so.

It would be gullible if I expected everyone was going ti pay me back.

Yes, I did, but you didn´t get it. I said it was gullible to trust everyone, like you wrote. I also added your post for you to see and understand. But, I guess, if you are at the level of trusting everyone, then you might have problem understanding.

How did you make sure they paid you back ?

You would take collateral,a phone or something?

No, I have no reason to be a peeping tom.

My question to you is have you ever been "bitten " for loans of money ?

No, as Shakespeare's Polonius advises his son "Neither a borrower nor a lender be; for loan oft loses both itself and friend, and borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry", it's sage advice that I adhere to.

Now you’ve said it was gullible a third time without explaining how it’s gullible.

You’re a schoolteacher, yes?

I was supporting you when you said you trust everyone until you have a reason not to, which isn't a bad thing. I'm also a little like that, although you learn fast who you can't trust after they screw you over.

It was back in the ‘80s, and most people just pay. No one had collateral. I just let another sucker vouch for them. Always write it down, never loan money to anyone that’s wasted. I caught them coming from the pay line to collect.

As the saying goes: “Pay me or the doctor”. But that was all BS, Never had to hit anyone. Occasionally someone would flee, but it’s just a cost of doing business. After a few weeks, you’re just loaning them their own money back anyway.

Exactly, and the sooner you find out the better.

I love when they pretend they “forgot”.

Best answer when someone asks to borrow money: "I'm not a bank."

My answer is always "I'm sorry, I'd like to help you but my money is tied up in my wealth at the moment."

Please don't ask for a loan, as a smack in the mouth often offends.

To be honest, would their lives be better elsewhere?

Maybe they are content and don't need you peeking in.

Sorry, all my money’s tied up in houses and lots. Whore houses and lots of booze.

No, I am not a schoolteacher, but you have a clear problem understanding, but as I posted, it must have do with your stupidity to put trust in everyone. Even if I were a schoolteacher, you would be an impossible case.

You are not able to explain why I am gullible, and you claim you can’t explain it, because I am stupid.

I honestly do not think it’s me.

Or a good fixed income income bond. 🙂

A lot of people don't budget here. They get mentally distracted with drinking and women. They end up just going to the ATM all the time.

Because....life gets boring ...some regrettably retired thinking it was going to be exciting
