TOT Upgrade Plan Experiences

Featured Replies

Thinking about upgrading my TOT plan (300/300 Mbps) which has been intermittently terrible the last month and with the tourist season approaching, I know it is only going to get worse.  Just got off the phone with the regular TOT guy that fixes our issues we have about once every 18 months with modems/routers and he told me that he wasn't sure if an upgrade would improve dependable band width.  I'm not a heavy user but on rare occasion(every other week) I will download a 10gb sporting event.

Speed isn't a real concern when downloading but constant freezes while watching 720 (don't need ultra HD) You Tube videos on the weekends and periodic complete shutdowns of service one or two times a day on Friday and Saturday is frustrating. Have my phone as a backup and isn't a huge deal but I would definitely up grade to a 1gb package if it almost eliminated the shutdown and youtube freezes.

Has anyone upgraded and would  share their experiences would be appreciated.  I'm  in a small (5,000 people) tourist town in Isan that has fiber optic. The Thai wife initially setup the TOT NT contract if that matters.

The ToT guy probably knows that there is limited capacity in the area you live hence his comment.

Perhaps you could try another provider True or 3BB/AIS if they are available.

You could also just try upgrading to a more expensive plan  as the 300/300 is I believe ToT minimum package so will be the first to be throttled whenever they need to keep higher paying customers happy.

If you do not have fiber and you can upgrade to fiber, do it.  It made a big diffence for me.

I think you are correct and the upgrade would help but not substantially.  I wonder if they would let me switch back to the 300/300 plan if it didn't improve.  Only paying 310 baht but have no issue paying 2-3x more if the improvement meant no shutdowns of service and even 480 standard def during the weekends.  I value dependable streams over HD streams.

I have fiber and think it has always been since moving here in 2021.

As you are a long term customer..I think there is a good chance they will let you switch back...only one way to know for sure though.
