A 38-year-old Ukrainian national was arrested in Phuket’s Thalang district late night after allegedly causing a public disturbance while under the influence of narcotics. The incident occurred near a shooting range in the Sakoo subdistrict, prompting a police response around 23:30. Officers from Sakoo Police Station reported that the suspect, identified as Mr. Andriy, appeared intoxicated, incoherent and was not wearing trousers at the time of his arrest.

Police said the man’s erratic behaviour raised suspicions of drug use, leading to a search of his belongings. During the search, officers reportedly found 1.80 grams of cocaine in his possession. Mr. Andriy was detained at the scene and later transferred to Sakoo Police Station for processing.

According to authorities, the Ukrainian national faces charges of illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics (crystal methamphetamine) and Category 2 narcotics (cocaine) under Thailand’s drug control laws. Category 1 substances include highly addictive drugs such as methamphetamine, while Category 2 covers drugs like cocaine and certain opioids.

Police have not confirmed whether additional charges will be filed related to public indecency or disorderly conduct, as the suspect was reportedly found partially unclothed in a public area. The case adds to a growing list of incidents in Phuket involving foreign nationals and drug-related offences, which local authorities have recently vowed to curb through increased surveillance and enforcement.

Law enforcement officials have reiterated Thailand’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal drugs, warning that offenders, both local and foreign, face severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences. The Sakoo Police Station is expected to forward the case to prosecutors following the completion of standard forensic and procedural reviews.

Further details about Mr. Andriy’s background, including his visa status and whether he had been residing long-term in Thailand, have not been disclosed. The authorities have also not commented on any ongoing investigations into potential drug sources or associates connected to the suspect.

He's not Russian. So once back in Ukraine he can leave for another "paradise" experience.

38 years of age, and incapable of behaving himself.  That's a real winner.

I wish Thailand could copy Singapore laws when it comes to class 2 drugs such as cocaine. 30 years in prison and you get rid of the idiots.
