Pattaya Enforces Conditional Parking Ban on Oct 15

Starting October 15, Pattaya police will enforce a conditional parking ban on South Pattaya Road. Violators will face fines and wheel locks for non-compliance. The initiative aims to alleviate congestion on this busy 1.2-kilometer stretch.

Leading up to this enforcement, Pattaya City Mayor Poramet Ngampichet and Pol Lt Col Siriwat Katmat conducted an awareness campaign. They informed business owners along South Pattaya Road about the parking regulations. These rules permit parking on one side of the road on odd-numbered dates and the opposite side on even-numbered dates.

Initially in force since early October, the parking system had a 15-day grace period where only verbal warnings were issued. Mayor Poramet noted significant improvements in traffic flow during a ten-day trial period. Authorities have shortened the enforcement hours from 11am–11pm to 11am–9pm to reduce disruptions to entertainment businesses while maintaining traffic flow.

Experts and local authorities express optimism about the plan's impact on reducing congestion. Violators will face a fine of 500 baht and must report to the Pattaya Police Station to resolve wheel lock issues. This measure reflects a broader strategy to enhance urban mobility and convenience for both residents and tourists.

Looking ahead, continuous monitoring and adjustments may be necessary to optimize traffic conditions. Authorities will review the system’s effectiveness and gather feedback from the local community and businesses. Maintaining a balance between regulation and accessibility remains a key focus for the city.

Key Takeaways

  • Pattaya enforces a conditional parking ban starting October 15.
  • Parking regulations alternate sides based on odd and even dates.
  • Enforcement seeks to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

Good.

Actually, install parking meters, raise some revenue.

It's the length of south Pattaya road (Pattaya Tai).

What makes you say it's not?

They should try something novel like building a parking garage.  🤔

I can't believe they don't suggest parking on the beach........it's a no-brainer.......loads of space.

That's something you need to take up with the editor

Yes, this is a Prostitute street near the beach

The ban will take probably 1week, after than business as usual

Apart from the absurdity of posting a photo of Beach Road when discussing parking on Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya Road), this "These rules permit parking on one side of the road on odd-numbered dates and the opposite side on even-numbered dates" has been around for many years already.

Perhaps they didn't enforce it as strictly before, but it is nothing new. I've seen wheels clamped there in the past, and often had to decide which side I was allowed to park on because the signs are there and have been for years.

They must be running out of things to write about.

Sure very nice but will public transport be up to the standards and offer efficient service to the foreigners, tourists ? Not sure...

After reading this well-written, concise, and informative article, can anyone tell me which side of the road, the TuCom side or the temple side, you can park on odd/even days?

Just one element that adds to the excitement of living in Thailand.......

It could be they haven't decided yet......and even if they have, it could change right up to the last minute.

Brilliant choice for a "reference only" 🤣

Adn what's new about this odd/even rule that exist since ages?

The shortening of the time period??

Can't remember but call yourself happy that the signs show English also.

Plenty of signs and clearly readable.

Years  before the signs were in Thai only.

Big fun 😁

Don't bet.

Months ago they were clamping 4 wheelers and loading two wheelers to the "tow" truck.

A proper truck which can carry maybe 10 or more bikes.

Then transported to end of world not far from Thepprasit.

Restrictions in Pattaya South Road, does this include motor bikes parked on the footpath? People can always park at the wat opposite Fascino. Then there's Soi Buakhaow Market or even Friendship Super Market. Parking fees are so cheap here so why take the risk of getting fined.

Tukcom - CAN park even days

Temple - CAN park odd days.

Sign on the Tukcom side....

Yep, 30 baht, park all day, behind Soi Buakhaow Market, easy to get in and if needed Baht busses outside.

Tap and pay like the supermarket?

It took me one hour to get from Suk to 2nd Road yesterday!  There were cars parked on both sides.  Do police only work on February 29th?

I purchased my condo just off Naklua Road 10 years ago. Over that time the traffic has increased significantly. So when the traffic goes towards the Dolphin Roundabout where are they going to. When they travel along Beach Road they must turn left at Walking Street. This is weekdays too so it's not holiday makers going to the beach. I just don't understand where they are all going to, is this a Thai short cut to Jomtein?

Actually there is a parking garage at the backside of Tukcom, not sure if it is still in use, but anyway it is a pain to get there, through the one ways street that is used as two way.

I was there last week Tuesday (market day) and it is almost impossible to find a parking spot.

Not only because you can park only one side, but at the same time they have been very generous with the white/red paint on the curbs.

My guess is that about 30% less parking space available at each side of the road since they started painting
