Marriage visa without financial proof?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I think it's no possible, but in the web of the Thai embassy in Spain doesn't says nothing about it in the requeriments list. Is that true or it's a fail from them?

Thanks for any answers and sorry about my English

You will apply through the e-visa system same as every country.  There, it is clearly mentioned;

"Financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 40,000 THB or having the current balance of 400,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter)"

The good news is that it does not have to be in a Thai account (but can be if that suits you best).

OP, you mention Non O marriage.

You can obtain that via e-Visa application outside of Thailand.

Yes it has financial requirements as mentioned above.

Do you have Thai bank account in your name only?

Do you plan to live ongoing in Thailand?

Thanks for the answers. It's not for me, it's for a friend. If he gets the visa here in Spain for 90 days, we think that could open a Thai bank account for the funds for future extension, is that correct?

Thanks again!

Each bank branch sets their own requirements for a foreigner to open a bank account, but having the proper visa is the first step.  Some banks also want to see a residence certificate from the immigration office, and some may even want to see a signed long-term lease.  If one branch doesn't work, just move on to the next until you find one that will open the account.

He will need a residence to get the account. The 40k  a month is not hard, and Spain still certifies income, so the extension is OK.

The hard part is getting the marriage documents certified and registered in Thailand. All Spanish documents need to be apostilled in Spain, then translated to Thai  and apostilled again by the Thai Embassy in Spain, then certified by the MFA in Bangkok, before they are legal in Thailand. Then you can get married in Thailand or register your Spanish marriage. Previous marriages/divorces complicate the process.

You cannot get married in Thailand again, as one of the requirements to get married is proof of freedom to marry saying you are single, which you are not.  So you have to register the foreign marriage in Thailand, not get married again.

While I do not believe that, the certification of the foreign papers is the same.

No, it's not the same.

I thought it had to be in a Thai bank..

That's an extension.  The visa from an embassy does not require a Thai bank account.

Well I thought the question was about a marriage visa/extension as that is the OP's title ...:post-4641-1156694572:

As usual not completely clear, however from his other posts eg this one......

"If he gets the visa here in Spain for 90 days, we think that could open a Thai bank account for the funds for future extension, is that correct?"

Its clear that is asking about obtaining a Non O eVisa not an extension..

Maybe change the title then ...:coffee1:

Not necessary. The title states Visa.

The OP asks about obtaining a Non O in Spain.

Meaning eVisa.

No mention of extension.

The thread is very clear.

I thought you only needed to show proof of funds for the extension, not the original visa application (which just gives you 3 months). Or did that change?

A visa applied for at a Thai Embassy requires funds to be in any bank account, however on the other hand an extension of your permission of stay from Thai Immigration is a permit, not a visa, and requires the funds to be in a Thai bank account.
