Flooding persists across Thailand, with 15 provinces affected, particularly in the Central Plain. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reports stable or declining water levels. Ayutthaya is the hardest-hit area, impacting 50,026 households.

Recent weather events led to significant water accumulation. Central Plain regions such as Uthai Thani and Chai Nat show stable flood levels, while others like Pathum Thani have decreasing water. In total, eight provinces experience ongoing flood conditions.

Northern provinces like Phitsanulok and Sukhothai report reduced water levels, while others maintain stability. In the Northeast, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani face similar situations. The East sees only Chachoengsao grappling with receding waters.

Experts emphasize the importance of preparedness in flood-prone areas. The disaster department's updates bring attention to community impact and needed precautions. Continued monitoring will focus on both immediate aid and longer-term recovery.

Authorities indicate response efforts are underway, with contingency plans for potential escalations. As water levels change, further assessments will guide infrastructure and relief operations. Residents are advised to stay informed and adhere to official guidelines.

Key Takeaways

  • Flooding impacts 15 Thai provinces, central regions worst hit.
  • Water levels are stable or falling, but risks remain.
  • Recovery plans and relief efforts are prioritized.

Floods at manageable levels, as long as you can swim to work

Central Plain regions such as Uthai Thani and Chai Nat

Help!

I'm struggling with my geography.

Uthai Thani and Chai Nat seem to be way over in the west of Thailand which is far from central.

I would have thought Chaiyaphum would be central Thailand.

Both provinces have eastern borders on the Chao Phraya which is the souce of the Central Plain flooding we are talking about.

The Central Plain itself is a massive area, about 40,000 sq km.

This map actually shows Bangkok clay but it's a pretty good approximation to limits of the Central Plain.
