Planning on a 5 month stay with a border bounce over the bridge to Laos at Nongkhai . Hoping to get a non O over 50 before I arrive . Having read the report of difficulties now at this border , could I enter Thailand on a 60 day visa exempt , leave the country at Nongkhai on day 59 and come straight back , same day using my non -O visa ( if it hasn`t expired ) ?

Yes you can obtain a Non O eVisa and enter Thailand.

You will be given a 90 day stamp.

A border bounce after that is possible and enter visa exempt.

What is past history?

Border bounce at Nong Khai same day won't happen without agent

Maybe I didn`t explain it well enough - I`m thinking of entering first visa exempt , then leaving and coming back in using the non - O , assuming it`s still within it`s use by date . Hoping that doing it this way , they might let me back in the same day .

You are trying to trick the system

Hopefully it will not work.

Many folk such as yourself ask this question.

If you have obtained eg Non O eVisa then use it to enter Thailand.

Stop nonsense.

When you enter Thailand, they will see your non-O in the computer and will use it for your entry.  You cannot enter Thailand visa exempt when you have an active visa.

I mean, you can ask.  But I've never seen anyone report successfully doing this.

The answer is if you have a valid Visa/extension in your passport then the IO will use it for your entry. You cannot put it on hold and use your proposed method.
