Is the White House demolition even legal?

The "disease" is the maga cult that thinks it's OK to completely trash the entire aesthetic of the people's house to build a shockingly vulgar, shockingly massively huge relative to the original dignified house, monument to glorify one particular mentally ill narcissistic president. Hopefully, it will later be torn down in a de-Trumpification movement. No other president would ever do such an outrage which is why nobody thought of passing a law to prevent it.

The Left’s Moral Blind Spot: Moral superiority arrogance.

There’s something dark happening in the way we talk about politics — especially on the left, the side that once prided itself on empathy.

Once upon a time, compassion was the calling card of the political left. The movement championed empathy, inclusion, and understanding — the belief that even those we disagree with deserve dignity. Yet in recent years, that moral high ground has eroded under a rising tide of contempt. Too often, people who identify with the left now resort to the very language they once condemned — branding their political opposites as monsters, vermin, NAZIs, Hitler or subhuman.

Compassion used to mean listening. It used to mean seeing the humanity in someone even when you couldn’t stand their opinion. But lately, it feels like that moral compass has spun out of control. Too many voices that once preached kindness now drip with venom when they speak about anyone to their right.

Today I do not see compassion anymore. Just tribal loyalty wearing a halo.

This isn’t compassion for the politically misled and unwashed. I see from the left a moral superiority asserted on anyone who disagrees with them. It’s moral self-deception.

And it’s spreading.

It’s a cruel irony. The same activists who  demand tolerance for their paradigm have learned to justify hatred, so long as the target wears the wrong color of ideology. Social media teems with posts that decry “hate” one moment and call for the “eradication” of right-wing thought the next.

This isn’t progress; it’s regression in moral disguise. It certainly isn’t moral superiority.

The tragedy is that many of these people still believe they’re on the side of good. They think their anger is noble. But the moment you call another person “less than human,” you surrender a piece of your own humanity in the process.

Dehumanizing language is not new, but it’s always dangerous. The moment we strip a person’s humanity away, any cruelty toward them begins to feel righteous.

It’s the oldest psychological trick in the book — the way all forms of persecution begin. We tell ourselves we’re fighting evil, and in that conviction, we permit ourselves to become what we claim to oppose.

Dehumanization is one of the oldest tools of oppression. It’s how we justify cruelty — by convincing ourselves that our target doesn’t deserve empathy. Once you start believing your opponents are monsters, it becomes easy to treat them monstrously. And when that happens, your righteousness curdles into something disgusting and ugly.

You can see it everywhere — on social media, in comment sections, even in conversations among friends. Words like vermin, fascist, disease, subhuman are tossed around like punctuation marks. The people who use them often believe they’re defending justice or progress. But if you strip away the moral packaging, it’s just hate dressed in virtue’s clothing.

Of course, not everyone on the left engages in this behavior. But when movements built on empathy begin to use “subhuman” rhetoric, they forfeit their own credibility. You cannot build a just world on the foundation of contempt.

Political disagreement does not make someone an enemy of humanity. The health of any democratic republic depends on our ability to see the person behind the opinion — to argue fiercely (preferably in facts and logically), yet never forget the shared humanity of those across the aisle. When we fail to do that, our words, no matter how righteous they sound, turn to ash.

This isn’t a defense of the right. It’s a defense of decency.

A democratic republic dies when conversation turns into excommunication — when debate becomes a blood sport of moral superiority.

We can’t claim to fight for justice if our weapons are humiliation and hate.

We can’t heal division by demeaning each other.

Because in the end, every time we use words to erase someone’s humanity, our words — no matter how righteous they sound — become ignorable.

Copied from which right side source?

Demeaning was started by trump btw.

Thanks for your reply.

The source is myself. Why would you assume I copied from a right side source? I simply express my thoughts here on AN.

So, what does it matter if demeaning started by left or right ? The subject of my post IS about demeaning people and more.

Summarizing the big picture: don't do it. Don't participate in making anybody subhuman. Right or left.

Throwing mud at people i.e. demaning isn't really good... you get your own hands dirty and you tend to lose a lot of ground.

One more comment please. It's a wonderful experience to read a lot of different genres which broadens my vocabulary amazingly fast and allows me to put word to thought. Two necessary things I use for communicating my thoughts are an older dictionary and  a complete thesaurus. Better if they're books and not online. That's just my preference.

It's a constant quest to zero in on the exact English word that precisely conveys on paper the pure meaning of the thought in my head. It's a satisfying and enjoyable process.

I have my own thoughts which I value and communicate to others if I think they may benefit from them.

@spidermike007 and @Jingthing won’t like this.

Biden and Hunter were tiny fish compared to the massive, highly corrupt empire that Trump and his sons are engaging in at this very moment. They are modern day robber barons.

Why don't you tell Trump and the entire movement about your desire to engage in healing and try to correct the division that's taken place? Let's try to stop the demeaning. It's a great idea and it's something that we should strive to do.

It is quite astonishing to me how MAGA has descended to a level where some of the less intelligent supporters are simply reduced to slogans, name calling as a juvenile tribute to their political Master, and memes rather than intelligent discussions. I'm very critical of Trump, he richly deserves that, but I'm very rarely critical of his supporters, especially in a personal manner.

You just assume that somebody who is critical of a man that you are obviously incredibly devoted to, is not well balanced mentally. But you need to really consider this because that's your own deficiency.

I am incredibly fulfilled, I lead a wonderful life, but I'm a seeker of truth and I don't mind calling out BS, nonsense, and a highly destructive crime lord and imposter, posing as a world leader. It's not only fun it feels like a very worthwhile activity.

After 10 years of all hands on deck persecution the best they could do was a decades old loan paid back in full before time, which trashed the DOJ. You know if there was a real crime anywhere in DJTs history they would have been all over it. Trump really is mr Clean.

Your Joe and Hunter on the other hand were corrupt scumbags shaking down foreign despots and crafting foreign policy for dirty $$$ to be laundered through the web of dozens of LLCs.

YES, it’s entirely legal.

And long overdue.  At least 100 years.

The DONALD J TRUMP ballroom will be a welcome addition for many generations to enjoy and a great tribute to the greatest President in US history.

Great place to entertain visiting heads of states.

More practical than Obama's basketball court, or a previous incumbents bowling alley.

As I understand it, the President is paying for it and not the taxpayer.

It will be a great legacy.

I enjoyed it when Karoline Leavitt mentioned that the press room used to be a swimming pool that Franklin D Roosevelt had built in the 1930s.

We've had numerous Presidents building bowling alleys, swimming pools etc pretty much for their own use but when Trump has a building built that can be enjoyed by 1000s of people, the left have yet another meltdown. You couldn’t make it up. At least the people attending meetings and banquets in the White House will no longer need to use portaloos when they go to a White House event.

Are you talking about the same lefties that have been celebrating Charlie Kirk's murder? That is hardly engaging in healing and try to correct the division that's taking place is it? At least three items on your list are accurate.

Source for what? It's the east wing not the White House, it's in the POTUS's power to do this or the East Wing is going to be rebuilt?

The Foreman would have nothing to do with it. The Architects, engineers and contractor would.

This is moving too fast to have the permits, particularly the permissions to bypass historical building regulations requiring public comment periods. I just might  know more than you think.

They will not be allowed to hook up to DC utilities without permits. Just the traffic interruptions will require DC permits.

Then you'd know how to look up all that info as its public, so knock yourself out.
Without that, you're just hot air.

Theres nothing historic about that wing, if you bothered to read about it

He also didn't say the Forman had anything to do with it. He asked if you were the Forman on the job. Very different things

Maybe George Soros is funding it.  Just like he is funding all of the No Kings  babies having their temper tantrums 10 months after losing the election

I don't think anyone minds improvement. What people do mind is the lies about it, possible lack of legality and very likely the tackiness.
