Big C promotions

Featured Replies

In Big C Pattaya Klang yesterday I noticed a couple of promotions that might be of interest, perhaps more to the Brits on the forum.

A multipack of Cadbury chocolate buttons for 20 or 29 baht (sorry, picture didn't come out),  and 3 Pack of Birds custard:

Tonight I've come along to Big C Pattaya Tai (I'm looking for a new fridge), and see these on offer too:

It's the Shreddies that are 29 baht. A big box too.

Sell by date is a few months, probably why the clearout, but I thought some forumites might be interested, as I was.

These are the Cadbury buttons. 5 small packs, total weight only 70g but good for the price.

Is this common to find import food discounted like this?

I've seen short sell-by date food  on Lazada before now, but never in Big C.

I bought a few boxes of those Shreddies  few months ago when they were still priced at 50 baht, put them in the trash bin after first taste, and I'm used to eat cereals as breakfast.

Can't believe anyone buys them at full price, which is over 200 baht

Sorry, why did you bin them?

Out of date, not used to the taste?

I buy a substitute brand in the UK so might find the taste odd too.

The sell by date on the box is actually the end of November, so long enough for me.

I bought 2 boxes and will know in the morning if it was a good idea.

I binned them for the taste, or I should say no taste. Add milk to them and they get very soggy.Expiry date was November
My breakfast is at least 3 times a weak granola, and bought loads of it at 40 baht for 500 gram during the same sales.

Last 5 packages a few days ago were 20 baht. You can keep unopened granola for a long time past the BF

Bargain that is for 3 pack of custard

Perhaps been at 45 degC a few times in 100% humidity.

Bought a couple of packs of McV Chocolate digestives that were an infuriating single brick sized block !

I think it is even more likely if you live in an area with few foreigners. Inevitably, many of the few English and European lines stocked by BigC, e.g. chocolate, cereals, milk, sauerkraut, etc., get heavily reduced on deletion. Few Thai people are going to be interested in such things.

The best discount I ever found was on some Twinings Camomile & Vanilla tea bags reduced by ninety percent, as they apparently could not give them away. I'm not a big tea drinker, but I like these, so I bought the lot, all with long-time expiry.

There is always a table or shelf with foreign items heavily reduced at my nearest BigC stores. I can usually find something worth buying.

Agreed.

Big C stocks some really stupid foreign food and ridiculously priced candy.

All of it is beyond expiry and they purposely put the discount sticker over the dates.

German sauerkraut label entirely in German. What Thai gonna buy that lol?

I see a few farang in one of my big c but not enough to warrant some of that ridiculous food.

My hobby is going around to Tops and big c swooping up all the stuff in sale. Need to be careful though.

Milk is always fine. Youghurt as well. Sweets hit and miss as is cheese. Just got bottle of white wine vinegar b205 for 80b

Yes i just bought a 500g pack at the Pantry, only 79 baht. But the chocolate does melt and they stick together.

Recently bought a bunch of packages ginger snaps mcv. All fine. B40 pack if I recall.

Loads of some Cadbury candy bars cheap a few weeks ago. Some mint, some orange. They turned out to be more cookies. I dunno they're not American. Even at the huge discount found them mid.

Japanese curry packs regular about 65 75b. On sale something like 35b

Olive oil is now big discount at big C. It sits all year due to stupid price and then gets dumped. Pasta same and pasta sauce too. Only time I eat pasta...

I only buy foreign food on sale especially sweets.

But you didn't take it. Jjust attempt at humour, but possibly a good low season marketing strategy.  Imagine it's just the bf of course.

It could be like bf your choice and get her bestie free.

Cheaper in Aldi in Australia

I noticed many supermarket prices in Thailand either comparable or MORE than Australia

Perhaps if I may ask you stick to healthy food , especially at your "mature" age

Oh, I understand now.... This junk food is killing you, you have lost your sense of humour.

Now you are just a miserable old man.

I'm so sad for you poor diet guys.

Improve your diet, you will become healthier and happier, just like me.

Not fat girls, they were cute and tidy.

Young, not expired

Yeah, right.

They over-charged you maybe.

That's what I thought.

Best before date on the custard is end of Dec 25.

Probably last a lot longer as it's mostly sugar.

I've noticed often that even those the expiry date is still good the product is off.sybe not entirely bad , but not fresh.

I wonder how they know. In states people will bring products back and complain.  I super doubt that happens in Thailand

I've just had the Shreddies for breakfast, and no problem at all.

Cold milk on top, a sprinkle of sugar, then wolfed down before they go soggy 😋

There are 4 types of dates to watch for, some dont know the difference at the stores. Best Used By, Sell Before, Expire Date, Manufacture Date

Our local Big C has got the cheap Ozzie red wine in again Block 60 at 209 baht, don't know why its so cheap, 13%

Would you recommend it (for the price)? I assume it's 750ml

I recall years ago bumper crop of grapes in Oz. Wine in US was 5 bucks a bottle and had heard they were literally dumping wine rather than selling it.

Block60 is a fruit wine, and is clearly labelled as such

Wow...this thread descended into madness rather suddenly.

@CallumWK Are you referring to this granola? https://www.bigc.co.th/product/carrefour-crunchy-3-chocolats-3-types-chocolade-500-g.8391631

I saw it for 20 baht or so, but couldn't get past having chocolate for breakfast.

Bought this https://www.bigc.co.th/en/product/carrefour-muesli-co-750-g.8268662 for 19 baht instead.

To get back on track, I'll list a few of the things I grabbed in their sales.

Agnesi Fettuccine Flat 500 grams 20 baht Best By date October 2027

Various Italian coop Risotto and Polenta, between 10 and 19 baht.

Crostini per Zuppe e Insalate 10 baht

Carrefour Classic sauces(Tartare, Bearnaise, Aioli...) 19 baht to 25 baht

Coleman's Original English Mustard 170 grams 23 baht

Solidal Crema Spalmabile(Italian Nutella) 350 grams 10 baht
