I do hope he will get well. I guess (just a guess..) he unfortunately fell into the  "Pattaya trap" that way too many people fall into. The delusion that " they"care and the refusal to see that actually they do not give a rat's a** about you (and i don't blame them for that ). It is only money. It is that blunt, that simple, and that deeply depressing. keep all emotions locked up in an iron box and throw the key, and keep it short,  or you will end up crushed by that raw reality. Many don't have the "shoulders" to carry that load. Specially the young generation now, so sensitive and psychologically weak and immature.

I have Bipolar II disorder and struggle with depression. According to Rocky Sullivan people who become distraught and attempt suicide are not worthy of compassion and sympathy. I'm fortunate enough, after decades of therapy and meds that don't work,  to not let most of life's downturns cripple me, but prior to my coming here 12 years ago my life had reached bottom and I was barely a notch or two above suicide. Coming to Thailand saved my life. I'm 68 and have learned to cope with my scrambled emotions. A person as young as 24 has virtually no real life experience to draw from in coping  with severe and unexpected emotional pain. Fortunately he will likely recover and be glad he has a second chance to grow to mature adulthood, and to realize that a failed relationship is no reason to want to end it all.

It was not the girl who caused this, that was not the "reason" - it was his overpowering emotions and feelings distraught that pushed him over the edge.

It's a sad thing all around. I am "mentally ill", I have Bipolar II disorder and suffer from depression. So Thailand  actually saved my life and brought me back from the brink. The difference is that this young guy obviously didn't have the coping skills to deal with his distraught feelings and couldn't live with them, likely because he got involved with the wrong kind of person. As far as "dealing with other countries' problems", I think the Thai people are far more compassionate toward a person like this than you give them credit for, and are perfectly happy to assist someone in a case like this. It's the badly behaving drunks and drug users that are the real problem. So tell you what, the Thai people have enough compassion to make up for that which you lack. Thank god for that.

Also, do people really think that jumping off a balcony is painless? Splat and that's it?  Falling and surviving means months of pain.

That's a big problem I have noticed, these rental girls are very good actresses sometimes and many guys start to treat them as real girlfriends! At some point he will be heartbroken because her "puta" side will show up in some way. I feel sorry!
