To be honest i look up to the USA more now.

I would swap Starmer out any day.

I wonder if the thumbs down was from a Trump hater - or a Starmer fan.

I accept the latter is unlikely.

Sometimes what you thought was your greatest strength was actually your greatest weakness.  Time to wake up. Mass deportations starting this morning would be a reasonable start.

Wasn't it Thatcher, the person who didn't believe in 'society', who decided to release the mentally ill back into society?

So now this is Thatcher's fault... 😄

I don't think even James O'Brien or Gary Neville could claim that with a straight face.

No, I was just musing. But I believe I'm right in recalling it was her decision to release many mentally ill from institutions.

You are lucky you're not in the US.

If that suspect had had a gun there would have been plenty of corpses on that train rather than just one very brave man fighting for his life

Or maybe the suspect would be lying on a gurney with a bullet in the back of his head.

Or maybe the suspect would still have used a knife like the guy who murdered the Ukranian girl Iryna Zarutska on the train in North Carolina.

It's all speculation.

Guns on a crowded train are a tactical nightmare for an aggressor as long as the train isnt filled with sheeple. One or two you might get, but you cant shoot in all directions and your Glock with the switch just emptied into the ceiling because it isnt TV.

Wasn't Bullet Train awesome? It showed that just about any offensive weapon on a crowded train (and some everyday household objects too) are a tactical nightmare.

Never saw that one.

Did you know Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry are world class shooters? Real shooters. Eye hand coordination and muscle memory to the max.

In Bangkok, assimilation between foreigners and Thais feels far more natural and fluid. Most Westerners I know here have genuine friendships with Thai people, built on mutual respect and shared experience rather than novelty or convenience.

because thais arent funding us through taxes, theres no resentment

Why don't people defend themselves, fight back. The guy had a knife, not a submachinegun. And they outnumbered him.

So far, I've received five down votes for this comment. That's five cowards who would recommend sitting in place and being butchered like cattle, instead of fight for their lives.

Only in so much as nobody was heard shouting Ally akbar, I am sure most people on the train were pretty terrified at the time of this "isolated incident" as the "authorities" are describing it

It was obviously pre planned and intended to cause terror so as far as I am concerned it was a terrorist attack , it does not have to have an islamist involved, they do not have the monopoly on terror.

Furthermore if it really was an isolated incident why the need for an increased police presence across the whole rail network ?    Might there be something they are not telling us?

Terrorism in relation to incidents such as this, is defined as an act or acts designed to influence the government or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and carried out with the intent of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

As bad as it is that this attack occurred and people were terrified by it (and that many were seriously injured), that's not enough for it to be classified as an act of terrorism.

It's early days. Let's see what comes out in the fullness of time, they weren't exactly honest/forthcoming with the public following Southport.

If they are muslims it is terrorism

Only if it was carried out with the aim of advancing (what the perpetrator thinks is) the cause of fundamental Islamism.

In any event, as things stand right now, there is no indication that the lone attacker (it turns out the second man arrested was not involved) is Muslim.

According to multiple newspaper reports, the words the attacker used were, "The devil is not going to win."

Doesn't sound too much like an Islamic slogan, as far as I'm aware.

For reference, especially all of you wrongly suggesting Islamic involvement;-

  • A 32-year-old black man who was arrested in connection with the Huntingdon train knife attack is now being treated as the only suspect, British Transport Police (BTP) said. The man, from Peterborough, boarded the train at Peterborough station.

.......police later said there was nothing to suggest that the incident was terrorism.

the suspect in the mass stabbing .............was not known to counter-terrorism police or MI5.

Asked if the suspect was known to mental health services, she said: “I’m not in a position to share any more information about the individual,

Want a cookie?

It's been a sad day for racists that the attacker was not muslim or a migrant. Hopefully you can wipe yourself down.

My thoughts at this time are with the victims and those impacted by this horrific act by an idiot.

Oh deep down there is resentment. That foriegn men come to pray on their older ladies. It's no different to what you claim men from other cultures do in the UK.

Furthemore, the governments own statistics in the UK say migrataion brings in more money than takes out. You are getting confused by the governments asylum seeker policy (that all of Europe has - due to the nature of wars around the region, and of course is clearly being abused). Nurses, doctors, business owners, care workers - migrants bring in so much.

The British migrants in Thailand are probably the worst of the worst i've seen anywhere in my life.

Ironically crime in London (such a huge metropolis) is lower than Bangkok and Pattaya.

London is targetted on social media and by the political class because it has a muslim mayor. New York is going to  see a similar fate.

Both are amazing cities.

Don't forget many Indians (including muslims) gave up their lives for the British in both world wars (more died than native Brits), but they don't teach that in council estate schools in the UK.

Continue your vile racism.

The Pound is already sinking. It sank after Brexit.

What these British racists don't realise if Farage gets into power, and dealigns further from the biggest export market (the European Union) the pound will fall further. If he carries out further dealignment and pulls out of the ECHR (which is baked into the Irish peace process, and European laws) you will see a further fall in the pound.

Racists ironically just end up punishing themselves.

Not totally definitive but again, not sounding too much like a Muslim.

Presumably you ignored these stats because they didn't suit your narrative:-

For someone who is very nationalistic - you don't care about how many people sacrificed themselves so you could go drink in Pattaya ?
