I think all religions have been corrupted by their own hierarchies over millennia and centuries, forever looking for power, money and influence over their believers and over their competition. They really have nothing to do anymore with God, or Gods, that's just propaganda and window dressing.

Religion was invented by a very clever conman.

Born a Christian, became interested in Buddhism but, while less violent, found it in practise just  as hypocritical as other religions/philosophies.  Now an agnostic I, however, recognise that  there must be a powerful force behind the creation of the universe, the multiverse, and beyond.

In my younger adult years I was an alcoholic, drug addicted and sex and porn addicted, and I had made a complete mess of my life and lost everything. I had heard the message of the Gospel preached numerous times by TV evangelists when I would come home in the middle of the night in a drunken stupor, and I just snarled at the preacher because I was so caught up in sin that I actually couldn’t imagine living my life without it. That all changed on August 5, 1988 when I was at the point of suicide, and I cried out to God to “save me” and show me how to change my life. God delivered me from all of my addictions and began a process to radically change my life and to set my feet on the pathway of immeasurable blessing and peace, and I can honestly say that over the past 36 years, HE has never left me nor forsaken me. I have discovered the answer to every single problem I have faced in my life in the pages of the Word of God. If you've tried to read it and it made no sense, you must understand that the Word of God is not intellectually discerned. It is spiritually discerned, and unless you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you to give you revelation knowledge, you will never ever understand what you are reading. You must put first things first and submit yourself to God, and then and only then will HE speak to you through His Word.

 

I encourage each of you to earnestly seek HIM out, and HE will find you and reveal Himself to you at your point of need. His mercies and grace are made new each and every day, and they are there for your taking if you will only humble yourself, get off the throne of your own life and crown Jesus as your Lord, Savior and King. He will send the Holy Spirit to be your comforter and give you peace that is beyond human understanding. Praise God….my life is in His hands!

The core element is not the promise of paradise but the threat of hell and damnation, Fear of the unknown is a much stronger  persuader.    It's all about control,  most religions are well past their sell by date and the followers, whilst not really believing pay only lip service.  Islam would be the exception for some reason it seems to be taking a lot longer to come of age and adapt to the 21st century  it is still stuck living in the middle ages  like many of its followers

Like we didn't know that already, Thailand not normally high on the "must visit list" for the devout except perhaps mormon missionaries.   Not seen any of them since covid , perhaps further proof of the lord moving in mysterious ways

As Christians we are supposed to spread the word, but it's still not to be forced on others as that can have them turn away, much the same as a child rebels against their parents. Everything here coming from nothing is impossible, and if there wasn't a nothing, how did that happen? This will forever be an argument because some can't believe a God would allow such misery to happen, but this short life is nothing compared to forever, so that's why we believe.

Very strange! A few priests I have come across in the CofE have been total hypocrites. The first of which was at an early time of my life. My voice was starting to break and he called me out in front of full congregation. Another one was a total foul mouthed individual when not wearing his collar. There have been a few more I have come across, and they certainly shouldn't be priests.

It has been my observation over the past 16 years that many foreigners come to live in Thailand because it's an escape from the social pressure to live up to the expectations of their "religion" and the peer pressure from family and friends to be a "good little boy". They are in bondage to sin, and they can come to Thailand and live like the devil, and nobody cares nor calls them out. I have lived and worked in some 19 countries, and never have I seen such hostility towards God the Father and Jesus Christ as what I have seen in Thailand, especially from the foreign crowd. Sadly, coming from Europe and the Nordic countries, they have probably never heard a true and clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and all they have known their entire life is "religion" and all of its trappings, falsehoods and heresy, rules and regulations and corruption within the ranks. Jesus didn't come to earth to bring you religion. He came to bring you "relationship" and reconciliation with your Heavenly Father. All of us are born with a huge void in our hearts that can only be filled by humble submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, so "let go and let God"! He's the only one who can fill that void and make you whole!
