A Thai woman lost 17,000 baht in cash after a thief discovered a spare key she had hidden inside her shoes outside her rented room in Udon Thani. The incident occurred at a dormitory in Soi Samit Yothin 4, Mueang Udon Thani district, on the evening of November 2, when the victim returned home to find her savings missing.

Police from Mueang Udon Thani Police Station were called to investigate at around 21.20. The 26-year-old victim, identified as Khunphat, told officers there were no signs of forced entry, leading her to believe the intruder had entered using the spare key. She showed police her trainers left outside the door, explaining that she had hidden the key in one of them.

Khunphat said she works at a smoothie shop in a shopping mall and has been living in the accommodation for about a year. On the day of the theft, she left home at 11:00 and returned around 20:00. When she checked her shoes, the key was no longer in the right shoe where she usually kept it, but had been moved to the left one. This immediately raised her suspicions.

She then inspected her cash box, which she kept on the head of her bed and found that all 17,000 baht in cash had been stolen. According to Channel 7, the money represented her personal savings, which she had been keeping separately from her bank account to avoid mixing it with funds sent by her brother from abroad.

Police interviewed Khunphat’s boyfriend, who later arrived at the scene. The victim explained that she lives alone and that her boyfriend visits occasionally. She said only the two of them knew she kept cash in the room, but she did not confirm whether he was aware of where the spare key was hidden.

Speaking to Channel 7, Khunphat said, “I feel deeply upset and speechless because that money was meant to help my younger sibling, who is about to graduate. I don’t even blame the thief. It was my own carelessness.”

Investigators plan to review CCTV footage from nearby areas, as the dormitory’s own security cameras were not functioning at the time. Police are continuing to search for the suspect.

A lot of sole searching on her part😀

Easy to solve this case.Im sure her bf stole the money and put the key in the other shoe to make his gf believe another person did it.

Maybe it was the stuffed Hippo who stole it.

I would suggest that, from now on, she keeps her door key on her person, and keep money in the bank.

Ouch man, you just narrowed down my play field 😉

My only question is, if she was "unsure" if the BF knew where the key was kept, then exactly whom was the spare key meant for?
