Extension Applications Moving Online

Featured Replies

I just noticed on the Songkhla Immigration website that they are moving extension applications online in partnership with VFS Global!

Read the VFS website. Complicated process and you still have to visit Immigration yourself.  Not helpful at this time.

I did read the website!

It'll be interested to see how this develops, the list of documents to upload is considerably shorter than a normal application! So come May next year I will do my extension application online, but attend my appointment with all the forms, documents and photos I would normally submit, because I'll be greatly surprised if some of them aren't required.

According to the Thai Immigration website it's a pilot project for the Bangkok area and the 12 categories of possible applicants don't include Retirement.

Looks like a work in progess to me.  I used this a couple of years ago for some tourist visa extensions and it worked fine.  Seems they are extending it's reach somewhat.

However, Retirement is not one of the options and despite Family (Thai) being one described in the instructions when you go into the application process it is not there, neither is Investment.

Maybe it'll be fine when it's finished.

VFS has this list of applicable areas;

"Currently our e-Extension application service is available for the following provinces;
Bangkok
Chaing Mai
Chonburi (Pattaya only)
Nonthaburi
Pathum Thani
Phuket (Blue Tree only)
Samut Prakan
Surat Thani (Koh Phangan and Koh Samui only)"

I took my information from this:-

“e-Extension” online application for temporary stay extension in 3 minutes. – Phitsanulok immigration

Yes, that was a few years ago when the program started.

Ok, thanks, my paranoia about signing up to websites unless I absolutely need to dissuaded me from pursuing the VFS link.

In 3 simple steps, your Thailand e-Extension application is ready!

Step 1: Provide the Application details and upload the necessary Documents

Step 2: Book an appointment and Pay the fees online

Step 3: Get the e-Extension visa stamp at Immigration

Please Note: for tourist visa only, your chosen location for applying e-Extension can be different to stamping location for e-Extension visa sticker. The other visa categories, the applying location and stamping location must be the same location.

This may be new for that specific office, but is not new in general.  It's also a TERRIBLE deal.

Not only do you still have to go into the immigration office, bring all of the documents that you already uploaded online with you, you even get to pay extra for the privilege!

Or you can just go in without doing this and pay the normal 1900 baht and get your extension with all the same paperwork.

Until they offer a truly online extension, this can be ignored.

Well you can probably add Songkhla to that list as I was directed to the VFS website from the Songkhla Immigration home page.

Possibly in the future.  Phitsanulok also has a link but cannot be selected when applying.  Remains to be seen whether it's Immigration offices randomly adding links on their websites or VFS not building their site properly.

2.24 Visiting a spouse or children who are of Thai nationality (Exemption visa type), (TR 60 days) and (Non-Immigrant)

Criteria for Consideration

Foreigners are required to have followed previous visa before applying extension visa.

Required Accompanying Documents

  1. Exemption visa (ผ.30, ผผ.14, ผผ.30, ผผ.90), Non-30, Non-90, APEC
  2. TR 60 days visa
  3. Non-Immigrant visa
    1. TM. 7 application
    2. Copy of applicant’s passport (Bio page and Cover page)
    3. Photograph size 4 x 6 cm. (not more than 6 months)
    4. Visa and Entry stamp on passport
    5. Copy of household registration certificate
    6. Copy of national ID card of the person having Thai nationality
    7. Copy of a marriage certificate or copy of a birth certificate
    8. Proof of address notification

Looks interesting but no mention of finances; B400k or income method?

Is No 8 a 90 day/ TM30 report?

EDIT ^^

I think this is only for a 60 day visit wife extension and not a yearly marriage extension. Am I right?

Problem is once you enter the system to apply the option for Thai Family does not exist.

Whoopie! No more dealing with the Neanderthal Gestapo!

e-Extention has been here for a couple of years, but it seems like it's for tourist extentions. We cannot use it for annual extentions where I live – have to book time personally with document check, and then return at booked time with also bank-updates – even they have had big advertising bvanners for e-Extension for the last two years, photo is October from 2023...

I have my doubts that it will be introduced in the foreseeable future, two reasons being that it would result in the reduction of a considerable number of staff and under the counter payments.

If you want to see an efficient system go with a Thai person to renew their passport, the few documents needed are scanned the passport arrives in three days and at half the cost of what we pay to renew our Australian passports
