Makro is selling some pretty good Cod Fillets in their frozen section, 117 Baht a kg for Atlantic Cod, buy a few beers, get the chip pan on, beef fat or Pork Lard, go a bit exotic and use some Tempura, fantastic!

you have a link for that? i only see the Pacific cod 350 baht a kg

Remove that green stuff from the plate and I'm in. 😊

I've got a mate like you.

Any vegetables or salad he calls "contaminants" .

He always orders meals without either and gets really annoyed if they appear on his plate.

So I suggested he orders the salad / veg on a separate plate....then I get to eat them - lovely jubbly!

I don't mind pickled onions and such with fish and chips. Can even go as far as baked beans. But mushy peas? That can't be right ☺️

Sorry mate - I love mushy peas - not only with fish. Add some black pepper and a drop of vinegar - delicious!

And before you ask, I'm a southerner 😎😂

People tend to want Fish and Chips more on Fridays anyway.

If I owned a shop I would discount on different days and let the competition have the bargain hunters on Fridays.

Has that been tried?

I have always thought that was cos of the catholics, i guess im wrong.

Take a short trip to Valley View restaurant north of Ban Chang, next to Green Valley Golf Course, excellent Fish and Chips, look them up in Facebook.

I would say in UK fish and chips was always the cheap meal and Friday was the designated day

You could go to the chip ship any day. It's just that many couldn't afford fish every day. But they served cheaper alternatives.

When I was an apprentice I used to go to the chippy everyday for the guys dinners, Pudding, Chips and Peas was always a favourite, especially if came from up north,

We could not afford fish every day. But there were fishcakes, saveloys, pickled onions, pickled eggs, smaller battered fish pieces.  Working extra hours to attain something(debt was frowned upon) there was often no time to prepare a meal. Local chip shop would give you enough chips to feed the family if they had the idea you were short on funds. Maybe even throw in some pickled onions gratis.

Those of us who grew up like that still respect community and taking care of those around us.

There are other attractions at BC, you know - I don't think we're meant to discuss them in detail here though! 🤔

Most fish n chippies in England are run by Polacks and they turn out decent product in my experience.

I must admit that of all the fish and chip shops I have been to, I have never met a Polack. Anyway, like all pubs, restaurants etc. the food quality varies so much.

I dont live in Pattaya but I see you all talking about fish and chips, Ive just seen on a FB post Nicky’s on Buakhao  is this good enough for you?

Nicky's is an institution in that area.  Food is BIG, CHEAP and ENGLISH.  If that's your thing you won't go wrong.

Mmmm,  wouldn't mind finding a supply of those. I seem to recall getting them in Pattaya a long long time ago at Dave's GB Bar.

Only one way to find out, get yourself down there and try,

Well I was thinking of a shop selling them, Hollands preferably. Where exactly are you suggesting?
